Oh wow!! I've been wanting to plan a cruise to Alaska! And I live in Seattle too! How perfect! Is this just a regular cruise with a seminar? It's not an all low carb cruise right?

Cruises don't really interest me at all, but that comic is funny.

What @midwesterner85 said  I've never been able to get on board with a cruise. The idea, for a reason I can't pinpoint seems blah to me.

    LOL. The comic is funny.

Back in the 70's I went deep sea fishing off the coast of FL. It was a pretty good sized boat accommodating 90. Hardly the size of a commercial cruise ship but good sized. A storm brewed and the captain opted to turn inland. Everyone rushed below to the enclosed area for protection and commenced throwing up. I, and several others were not so quick so were required to say above. I clearly remember hanging on to some post for dear life as the waves/water toppled over me. The boat was being tossed around like a toy. We were a hangin' and a heavin'.

It seems everyone I know has been on a cruise and loved every single minute of it and can hardly wait for their next cruise. There is no way in world I will ever again go far out in the ocean. Ever. EVER.

I thought I wanted to go but I feel like the speakers are more technical and geared towards people in the health field than for someone like me who is just a regular low carb person lol.

@Xwxjackiexwx - the whole week is a low carb cruise, of course there are other things to do while on the cruise, shore trips at the ports, etc. But it is specifically geared to those who eat low carb, so I'm thinkin' the food choices may be better than the usual cruise, and of course lots of great information.
@GlitterRayne, The nice thing about low-carb docs is that they are not snobbish about the info, they seem to be very inclusive of newcomers to the lifestyle and generally explain things very well while still giving you real scientific info and not just 'feel-good' talk. Often they welcome questions during a question period after. I've seen some videos on youtube. https://youtube.com/watch?v=9L2LCrIzpNw

@RalfLott, I haven't signed up because like a few others here, I'm not a cruise type person... the cruises I'd want to go on are generally Lindblad Cruises (epic expedition cruises with NatGeo) and we can't afford that right now, lol. My DH and I tend to do expedition/adventure type travel that I book on my own with local tiny hotels/homestays, and without the help of non-local tour companies. We often wing it by asking locals once we get there what to see & do, where to eat & stay (after our first couple nights). For instance, we ended up at a huge flower festival (Panagbenga) by chance in northern Philippines after a 6 hour bus ride (4 of which was just to get out of Manila - holiday traffic was so bad) and stayed on a foam mattress on the floor of the home of the parents of a lady we met while on the bus. We had a wonderful time as we got to know each other, they fed us an awesome breakfast and would not take any money that we offered to help defray costs (they were fairly poor). They wanted us to stay even longer but we had to move on to Karst country further north for caving where we were to meet up with a local tribal guide who was taking us into some caves and explaining the cave burial traditions of his people. We also did trekking with another local guide into the UNESCO site rice paddies, and home of the last headhunters in the Northern Philippines (as late as the 1950's). This was for our 20th anniversary - 3 weeks in Northern Philippines with a couple nights in Tokyo on either side.
Sorry for the ramble.... great memories come flooding back and I get carried away. :D

That would be a great trip. I love the idea of a cruise where I don't have to travel between destinations but instead wake up somewhere new every morning. Perfect!

The Alaskan cruise doesn't appeal as much. We go to the coast every few years so there wouldn't be much new to see, but if it was in Europe? I'd be all over that... well, if I could afford it. ;)

I'm going on a cruise in December! My first one. I am SO excited to do ... nothing. For a whole week even!

This does look interesting and Alaska is a beautiful place. I grew up in the PNW so I would love to see it again and then cruise on. Unfortunately my bet is I wouldn't be able to afford it LOL

@Catawampous An Alaska cruise in May is pretty cheap normally. Not prime season mid summer. I'd check it out if I were you. Price for inside cabins is at US 886 right now on the Royal Caribbean site, probably you could get a deal thru a travel agent or on a discount cruise website...
Here you go: found it for US 787 plus there is a very limited time deal of BOGO 60% off so even cheaper. lastminutecruises.com/booking/PageCruiseResults.aspx#st=4&mod=7&afId=0&scf=1&dst=17&dep=05%2F01%2F2017&tod=05%2F31%2F2017&len=6.9&spr=0&crl=1030969&prt=0&usst=0&shpid=0&mrkt=US&mpr=0&rpr=0&ipr=0&preNum=7730ca8d-47f2-47cc-bfd5-38bd55b611e9&Mode=SimpleOnSide&cwsn=lastminutecruise&cwsa=CruisesWebSite&cu=en-US&trcsb=true&bsp=1&showValResults=1&27=971&searchNum=847081

I was unofficial travel agent and foreign exchange go-to person for the other bank employees I worked with a few years ago, and for quite a few customers, lol.

The cruise sounds like something I would like, but can't afford at the moment. Additionally I joined Diet Doctor's website and he often interviews many of those on this type of cruise and has them on his site. A cheap way to get some of the information :)

Yeah, I get "fooey on cruises," but, frankly, I'd spend a week in jail with Phinney, Westman et al. Heck, I might even consider a McDonald's dumpster a suitable venue.....

    Who's my roomie?

    Please just not:

    - That dentist from Minnesota who killed the iconic African lion;

    - Jared from Subway (if he's been paroled); or

    - Rachel Dolezal.

    thx

Seminar fee?? payment fee?? cabin is 787 + 314 if you go on lastminutecruises.com pretty quick to get the BOGO 60% off. Flight meals? I always go for the Subway salads with extra bacon, avocado, meat & cheese, topped with mayo & Frank's Hot sauce to take on the plane with me. There's sure to be a Subway in your home airport. Or I'm sure there's some sort of Chili's or BBQ meat joint once you get thru security you can get a Keto plane meal from. Prob. a deal on flights too.

Cruises seem to me to combine (1) fearing of downing and (2) claustrophobia. This particular cruise would be the closest I could come to being allured.

@mandycat223 IKWYM... we might be more tempted if it was somewhere other than Alaska (or Caribbean), but hey, it's out there for anyone who might want it on a whim :D. Would be awesome lectures though, better offerings than on any other sort of cruise (except maybe Silver Seas, or Lindblad)
