Cold Prevention! Your Strategies Please...

Okay folks, I am feeling better. Cold/allergy/sinus/ throat deal is gone. Never got severe at all. Hope that is related to keto WOE. We have a trip coming up near thanksgiving. What can I do to prevent any ailments as such? Any ideas welcome. I do teach the 6th grade. Keep that in mind. Oh yeah a pound and a half to go and I am in the two teens!!!

Thanks, you all are great!!!

Eat well and get plenty of rest? Buy a couple boxes of tissues and teach the 6th graders how you use them when sneezing if they don't already know. :)

If I take one beta glucan a day, I don't get sick. Whenever I run out, get tired, don't sleep well, or travel and get exposed to germs I will get sick then. The moment you feel under the weather take some garlic pills, drink lots of tea, and sleep more than usual.

Good hand washing, keep hands away from the face, good sleep, optimize vitamin d levels, limit exposure to sick people, healthy food plan, healthy movement. Key for me is sleep and keeping hands away from face.

Lots of hand washing. Every time I eat, use the bathroom, or come home I wash my hands. I also keep hand sanitizer in the car for when I am out and about.

I think coconut oil helps too. Eating it and using it topically. It has antiviral properties that may help keep you healthy.

For example, I developed shingles last summer after being keto for some months. It was one of the mildest cases of shingles I'd ever heard off. I almost didn't figure it out because I only felt under the weather, mildly, for a few days and then the rash was no more than 2" across. I swear LCHF and coconut oil helped.

If you are flying for your trip, take a little nasal mister of saline to keep your nasal passages moist and if you don't mind how you look, do like the Asians do and wear a little paper mask over your nose & mouth. It mainly works to remind us not to touch our mucous membranes with our hands. I also take a package of anti-bac wipes (the mini travel ones) and wipe down the armrests & tray table at my seat as soon as I get seated. Lots of Vit C,D,E and hand washing like everyone else said.

When opening doors in public, avoid germs by using the bottom of your shirt to grasp the handle or use paper towels.
