Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?

Ok, when I was in junior high school (now called middle school), my Mom took me to a department store called Robert Hall. I was there to buy my first suit and some blue jeans. I distinctly remember being escorted to a section of the store with a sign that said, "Husky Boys". Unlike my two sons, who have more of their mom's DNA, I have never been skinny. I always resented it when I was advised, "Just do what the thin people do and you will be skinny too." Not true! My side of the family DNA pool has genes that when we try to do straight dieting, our metabolism screams, "He is trying to kill us! Shut down the engines, we are running on fumes to stay alive."
Nonetheless, doing life the UAC way does keep me healthy and appropriately shaped for my body type and my age. Rick

Morning Rick The Husky section wasn't reserved just for boys it was out there for the girls too. WTH. I definitely prefer the term curvy to husky. Granted they didn't use the term booty back then but that's what all the girls that were husky had we had the 2 B's Boobs and Booty. In third grade I would have gladly given both away til I reached high school.

Today's goals is to start making a list of everything I want to look for when I go out shopping and it all has to do with staying warm. I'm tired of being cold and the snow hasn't even started yet. We have a work out room at the bank but right now our breastfeeding moms are using it as a room to pump their breast milk. Which I don't blame them. No one wants to pump in the bathroom. I would love to use the equipment so one of these days hopefully.

Good morning from San Diego by the Gaslamp neighborhood and convention center! Got my exercise done: 40 minutes of HIIT and 30 minutes of Active Stretches (HRM says that's only a 60 calorie effort, so the cardio is where the metabolic kick is generated).
I really appreciate what @phoebelayla shared about her own positives by planning ahead & staying with her plan. Congratulations!
Also thank you to @2020pinktogo and @phoebelayla for sharing about our self-concepts based on labels that we indelibly sear into our identity.
I truly hope and pray that what we are doing together here will be a blessing in the lives of each of the UAC team members.

    1) yes
    2) yes
    3) yes

MFP is giving me credit for 1700 exercise calories. That kind of almost doubles what I can eat today. That is presumably GPS based estimate of the work involved in my 2,000 foot morning climb.

My Sportline HRM is giving me credit for 1,127 exercise calories presumably based on the work involved at running my heart in the 85% range for the climb (90min) and otherwise for 138 minutes of total riding.

Strava figures the calorie value of that work done at like 800 presumably a GPS coupled algorithm.

I am kind of inclined to straddle the Sportline and MFP result. I didn't eat all of it but I had to eat some of it.

So I climbed 2,000 feet both today and yesterday. Today's climb nobody went by me on the road, so I had the place to myself. Nice except if something goes wrong. Little bit cold. I haven't got my outfit quite right. I need one of them hunter looking hats with ear flaps.

So the climbing fiend has 7,560 feet climb for 7 days in November. 19 thousand to go for Strava November climbing challenge. Possibly doable if not distracted too much by festivities.

@bocadelbob you are impressive! I highly recommend you read the Heart Rate book that I recommend. I think you may be the "Secretariat" of bike climbing. 220-your age is about right for me. I did a VO2 Max test at the Aspen Club. But based on your amazing experience, your heart rate max is much higher than an ordinary mortal. I mean that as a factual compliment

    Great job y'all!
Exercise? Yes, I got a CrossFit class in today. Lots of front squats, then a sprint exercise (100m x 10 with 30 sec break in between) Those sprints killed me. Then a short 10 min workout.
Calories? Well under for the day.
    Tracked? Yep every bite!

I looked at buying it from Amazon. I am going to take a light duty day tomorrow and read it.

I think my max heart rate is normal. 220 - 63 = 157 or so. I seldom hit that. Only in spin and I don't stay there long. The time I stayed there long I found out why it is a limit. It caused me kind of scary problems for several days.

You talk about being a stocky kid. I was kind of the opposite, kind of scrawny. I got badgered over that. My peers wanted to be big. I guess I did too. That self concept turned out to be trouble for a lot of guys. Big is one thing. Sustainable BMI is another. My buds that prided themselves on being big men ended up with heart or circulatory problems.
Whenever I got big it was all in my belly. I was a skinny guy with a big belly and a commensurate bad back. I think that problem was what they call visceral fat and, lucky me, is the easiest to lose. The "big" guys had an even distribution of fat and they kind of looked good. We would say they carried it well. They weren't ever really motivated to lose it. Doc would tell them about BMI and they would shrug it off. Here I am referring to them in past tense. Care to guess why?

    Exercise- yes, ran 70 minutes
    Cals- yes
    Track- yes

@bocasdelbob - great workout and calorie burn. You crack me up with all the numbers because I do the same thing. It's fun... but I'm a numbers geek like that. I track on My fitness pal and WW. It is interesting to see the different info and compare. I will track my runs with my Garmin, Fitbit and sometimes pull out Apple. The Garmin run watch is by far the best, but ever since I was injured I can't face all the details that show what big steps backwards I have gone. Someday, just not right now. It's all good.

Amazing job on all these great workouts that everyone is doing!!!

Today, I went for a half hour walk during most of the workshop breaks. I ended up over 1,000 calories under goal plus calorie output. That does not happen often. I guess I should live in San Diego.
    Exercise: great
    Calories: great
    Tracking: ok
@MiamiSeoul You are doing an incredible job with those workouts!
    @fearlessinmy3rdact You are the Man!
