Heh! You and me both. I struck out a few days ago. I am not going to abandon the plan though.5 -
15th November
Exercise: Yes. Cleaning the house and hiking. I love Autumn! It will be sad when the trees are bare.
Calories: Yes, but it was close...again!
Tracking: Yes
@fitqueenbess @phoebelayla ha it's coming up to 10pm here. I've brushed my teeth and my kitchen is definitely closed and locked for today! I taught English in Vietnam for a few months years and years ago and was the lightest I've ever been when I came home. There are lots of reasons why but one big factor was definitely that I didn't have my own apartment and lived in a hotel so didn't have a kitchen or any food in my room. Not practical at all for every day life though!4 -

Yes- yes- yes- (unless I drink beer. Lucky me I don't have any.)
I tried to get exercise today. I guess I didn't do too bad. Only 592 feet climbing. Mr Garmin gave me 670 calories credit.
That is for a truncated bike ride. I had a flat tire at minute 30. That is just past the cave parking lot. I debated whether to fix it or just walk out. Walk out won the toss. So that is about 90 minutes of biking and walking. Mr Knee doesn't mind a change of pace. Oh, and I had that whole place to myself. Nobody else went by.
So walking back, I get a different perspective. Descending, I usually rattle down this at a pace that kind of requires concentration, so there are things I don't see off the side of the road.
This morning I discovered a descanso in the strangest of places. It wasn't right by the road as is usual. So it is kind of mysterious. It was off in a gully kind of. Bona Fide, permanent, real, descanso. All kinds of crazy tangents from there. Oh yeah, since I was meandering I finally got to taking pictures of the caves. Yeah, looks like my cave pictures turned out. Maybe if I get some likes I will show you my cave pictures. I shoulda took a picture of that descanso.
Go home. Fix tire.
Think I will ride up the hill and see if My Little Buddy needs personal training today. (200 calories) That little guy has been strong for a couple of days. Sometimes we just go walker walking. He has a walker that is somewhat like an old guy's walker only scaled down. It has like forearm platforms that have some velcro straps and handgrips that he can grab and get strapped on and push the whole thing solidly.
He has to walk but he doesn't have to balance. He kind of rides on his forearms somewhat. Oh, and I got a rope tied to it.
So we go walking, I give him plenty of free rein. Oh and sunglasses! I figured out that he is sensitive to our bright sky. You should see the difference! I got stories surrounding this that I should probably detail somewhere.
But walking, what's he want to do? He always wants to check both doors of the PT building and peer inside if they are open. That is his happy place. They even have bowling in there. You know, kid style. I coaxed him into doing our usual round of the perimeter of the campus. What I found fascinating was when we got by the library he insists on wheeling up to the back door of the library. Seriously, I mean insists. What gives? That isn't a door he regularly uses. He's been in the library but never in or out that door. Guess what? His mom was in the library doing the book fair. He wanted to go in there. Someone by the back door let us in. So we go and say hi to mom. But, that little guy has some spatial (architectural) orientation ability that I would never have figured him for. Also, how did he know his mom was in the library doing the book fair? He had to have been doing intelligence gathering from peripheral conversations. That little guy is more clever than I ever thought.
Going forward, knee feels good. I am going to try that climb again. Cold front on Thursday. I think it warms up again though.
Diet starts in the grocery store. Discovered something I can't buy. Kashi. Sounds healthy doesn't it? Read the label. Half a cup, over 200 calories. It is fun to eat it like granola but guess what? Dietary overdose in no time.4 -

Exercise- Oh yeah! I got frustrated t work so I took an extra long walk around the office building next to our campus for a change of scenery. I also made it to the gym and sweat my butt off.
Calories? Stayed well under and that's even eating a brownie, my weakness.

@bocasdelbob I'm going to have to come and visit you some day. I had to look up a 'descanso'. I speak Spanish, so I translated the word as "rest' or 'a break'. I looked it up and a roadside descanso is a memorial to someone who died. Thanks, Bob, now I know that.
Calories: very ok
Tracking: ok
Exercise; just an easy 4 mph walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes.4 -
@bocasdelbob - Granola is basically crack to me. Can't stop eating that stuff, so just can't have it around. (Not that I actually know what crack is like, just saying!)
@am_change - Good on you for closing down your kitchen tonight.
Yes x 3 today. I got in some good strength training.3 -

Yo tambien busque "descanso". It could also be a jumpy spider or a type of mum, both of which could be found on the roadside... but, I think a roadside memorial is correct.
Interesting post, @bocasdelbob. Also, that your little guy has such since of direction. I get lost in a hotel!

@RangerRickL ... "visit some day." Hey I can wrap some fun around that idea. I know you are a guy that knows how to get to and from Aspen. That is all well and good.
If I think real hard I might be able to remember a place that time forgot. ...
Hey, I know of a road that your kids and grandkids might not find too horrifying.
You might want to graft a place like this into their psychies.
I can show a kid how to catch "cutbows" cutthroat/rainbows... they are little but kind of fun.
And I sleep in the dirt like a cowboy, I make a campfire and tell stories. But hey there is comfortable soft bed and hot running water never far from where I go. You know, in case sleeping bags get wet etc.

@bocasdelbob If you are serious, I'd love to come and visit you next year. BTW: I'll be in Phoenix several weeks during this winter. My wife, Rose, bought a snug little condo near North Mountain in NE Phoenix. She will be there all winter. I'll visit her from time to time.0
