Hi there. I'm 47 and have lost 60 but it's taken FOREVER and I still have 10 to go. I had ablation surgery over the holidays, boom no period, no cravings, no water gain and I thought I'd sail into menopause no problem. WRONG! IT CAME BACK!! I have the gyn appt scheduled. In the meantime I had a serious binge with chocolate. SO PISSED. If you look at my dairy I'm very active, and that helps. These perimenopausal cravings are the bane of my existence and I don't want to undo the progress I've made. Suggestions?

Someone told me that when you crave chocolate during your cycle it points to a need for magnesium.

Yes I've heard that as well. I have started taking magnesium to assist in post workout recovery, hopefully it'll curb cravings!

Hi lauracups! First of all congratulations on your weight loss you have done amazing! And unfortunately in menopause our weight loss does get harder to accomplish but as my aunt said slow and steady goes the pace and that the weight that comes off slowly usually stays off and we don't lose precious muscle that we need to retain. As far as the menopause goes when you consult with your obgyn try different methods to see what works best for you. Good luck with your journey and keep up the great job!

I find that eating more fat will eliminate my cravings...avocado is better than chocolate for making them go away, at least for me!

I agree with tcunbeliever. I've lost a lot of weight the past few weeks eating mostly healthy fat. Another trick you might try that has worked for me is to eat all of your meals within an 8-10 hour window and don't snack in between. I usually have my very creamy coffee for breakfast around 8 a.m., lunch around 12:30 and have dinner no later than 5 p.m. My meals are very fat loaded so I don't have problems with hunger or cravings between meals like I used to, and if I do get hungry between meals a glass of lemon infused water takes care of it. That long fasting period between dinner and breakfast really does help with weight loss. If the plateau is particularly stubborn you can try an intermittent fast. I've used those, too, with good results.
