Weight loss while ill

Hi all,

I came down with a cold on Sunday and since then have been feeling very weak and tired. I've been working slowly all the same (I work from home), but have not been able to exercise. As a result, I've been really careful with my food (easy because my appetite is not that big at the moment) and have been averaging 1200-1400 calories a day. I weighed myself this morning and have lost 3 pounds since Sunday (!!) - is this normal? That weight loss is huge for me. Will it come back on as soon as I'm better?

You may put a little back on as you're probably dehydrated at the moment. That said, a sedate 8 1/2 stone woman needs 1400 cal just to function/maintain current body weight (without any exercise). So if you're below that and still working then some of it should stay off. Hope you're feeling better soon.

If you WFH, which I do as well, how much do you work out with 1200-1400 calorie a day. My weight is not budging as I have been sitting for around 7 hrs due to work.

What's WFH? I usually eat about 1400 when i'm not sick and at the least go for a 30-45 minute walk in the morning and do weights and at the most go for a run and a yoga/pilates/zumba class in one day. This sometimes means I have to eat a bit more

Yes I do WFH (I learned something new!!) - it's hard because my job involves me sitting down quite a bit, so I just ensure that I get my 10,000 steps in every day. This often makes it easier to sit for long stretches also.
