I was thinking we could do a continuous thread for our daily accountability and then start a new one at the end of each week for weekly updates.
So, what did you do today?

Intermediate yoga workout. And barn chores...that counts.

Today hasn't been very successful! We had a bad winter storm blow in last night and I have been awake on and off since about 2:30am.... I had full intentions of getting on the treadmill at 5:30 but when that time came I was almost asleep... I will have to walk the dog after work and am hoping to do my next session of C25K by zenlabs... W3D2.
Dog may not get walked we are hovering about -13F and dropping tonight to about -24 and if I do not sit down after work I may actually get my run in........ ah I love Mondays :( NOT!!!

I had a pretty good flat ride, getting some really nice canter transitions which have sort of been an issue for this horse. Went to the gym, 445 calories on the bike and 227 on the rowing machine. Have logged all foods so far :)

Alright I couldn't say I did nothing today... but I didn't do much! I shovelled the driveway when I got home for about 15 min then I did get my W3D2 done I would like to take the dog for a walk but my SO says it's too cold unfortunately I only have 50% of my daily step goal

I had a great ride! It was in the 20's but inside the arena seemed slightly warmer. We worked on a gymnastic set up that was a one stride to a bounce. The "jumps" were half cross rails and it went really well.
So my workout was a 40 minute ride.

I didn't do great on my eating- like at all. I was a good 800-1000 calories over and that has to stop happening

Good Morning!!! Life is a journey..... not a destination, enjoy the ride :)
    Don't be afraid to fail.
    Not everything comes right away
and sometimes you have to keep trying
even though you may not be
getting where you want to be yet

@cessi0909 bounces are so much fun on the right horse :) great job on the 40 min... were the extra calories over still when you factored in your exercise? Don't try and go cold turkey on cutting all the calories out, IME when i do that it leads to crazy overeating.
@crimsongrey happy day 2! Thanks for the motivation and camaraderie!
@snookb276 more yoga today? And barn chores definitely count.....

So thankful to have access to an indoor arena! It's a little small, but I was able to get some decent jumps in today! The turns are all super tight which means rollbacks are going to be easy even once we get outside again ;) Oh dang, I forgot to do the pony plank! Maybe tomorrow. Will get to the gym after lunch!

@crimsongrey thanks for creating this group/challenge! I'll just join in today and tag along.
@showjumper what is the W3D2? Hooray to extra calories burned by snow shovelling...tis the season!
I have to teach 2 yoga classes tonight, aiming to get a flat ride in after that where I actually WORK instead of just ambling around the boring indoor.

@melleoh I am redoing a couch to 5km (3.1mi) running program (C25k by zenlabs) where you alternate running and walking and build up to a 30 min non stop run over 8 weeks. It is broken up into 3 days a week so your first run would be W(eek)1D(ay)1..... last night was Week 3 Day 2.
When I lack creativity with my flat I always remember a clinician reminding us all that you should strive for 100-200 quality transitions both up and down each ride. Perfect practice!
@crimsongrey one of my biggest issues is being able to ride out of the corner to a jump, i am famous for picking and backing to see a distance instead of riding up to find it.... you'll have that mastered for me :)

    ....

Yes, but not by as much as I first wrote when you say that. Then it was only a few hundred. We went to a dinner place for a fund raiser and although I wasn't super hungry I ate a full meal of chicken tenders, honey mustard and fries. It can embarrassing to admit I do that but it is my struggle

I just got finished doing the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred video. It isn't long but it got my heart rate up

Weclome @melleoh! Great to have you join :)
@showjumper I'm always recommending the couch to 5k to friends who say they can't run. It's how I got started several years ago and it helped me complete 3 half marathons. I'd have to start all over...again...if I wanted to start running again.
@cessi0909 I definitely share your struggle! Good job doing the shred video :)
I had a fun jump school, spent 10 minutes on the row machine to warm up for about 45 minutes of weights/strength training. Happily under calories so far.
Hope everyone had a successful day. Thanks for joining me. I really appreciate having friends go through this with me.

I made it to the barn tonight but unfortunately everything was working against me (in a good way, kinda) My darling husband got there before me and got my first horse ready for me so all I had to do was get on....... then the horse warmed up easy and my trainer had me get right at it and we did a course, no issues..... put jumps up 3", go again, no issues....... another 3", go again, again nothing! So trainer called it good....... didn't even register on my garmin! Horse wasn't even warm.... Horse #2 is boarded outside so it was too cold to bring him in to ride and then toss him back out.
Debating if I want to go for a quick mile run not sure I want to take the dog for a walk. I am not going to make 10k steps if I don't do something....

@showjumper wow, that struck a cord...100-200 good transitions per flat ride! I've been stuck in dressage bootcamp for the last 4 months while our indoor footing is waiting to be fixed...I love my lessons but I need to kick my own butt (and my horses!) more when we ride on our own.
I did 3 hours of yoga yesterday, headed up to the barn...and was greeted with a pulled shoe. After searching the field for an hour, I found it in his stall. No idea how he did it, but my ride didn't happen :(
Today I have a company christmas party right after work, so I'm setting a timer with a set of intervals to do every hour at work. It's something! And I'll try not to stay away from the food table at the party sigh.

@crimsongrey no run last night, will do W3D3 tonight... I got my step goal but not 10k, tonight will be better. I have to force myself to go for a quick walk each hour today or I will sit here for 9 hours not moving, most week days I only get about 2k steps by 5:00pm :( pretty sad I know but it is the nature of my career!
@melleoh see above :) I have my phone set to chime every 90 min, today is a deadline day so I have to play with it a bit but if I get to work instead of posting... :smirk: I may be ok! One day I will get to 5k steps through out the day but it is really tough for me. And I hope for you that there are healthy options at the food table. Although it is really hard to pick the carrot/celery sticks when there are luscious chocolate everythings everywhere! Be strong!!! :)

    How did everyone do today?
I did yoga and rode and so far under my calorie goal. Felt pretty good today, despite the cold and a stupid fall (more like slide ;) ) off of my horse.

I have these PDFs of circuit body weight training that focus on different areas and today I did the abs and the arms. My upper body, other than my back, is pretty weak. I need to rein in my eating though.

I'm taking day 4 off from riding and working out, but will make it up this weekend. It seems wrong to complain about the cold knowing where some of you live, but it was cold today! Windchills in the the single digits (F) all day and it was about 20F in the indoor and I couldn't get myself to ride. And instead of going to the gym, my hubby and I met with a lender to discuss the possibility of getting a loan for a farm we've been looking at! I have not told anyone in real life that we've been looking. I don't want to jinx it, but it looks like it might work!

    @crimsongrey that is so exciting!!!

It just keeps getting better! NOT.......

    Environment Canada just released this:

@showjumper No, just no. I would not be able to leave my house until spring. How do you even take your dog for a walk? Is the barn heated?

Ok ladies! Day 5! Looks like we all need to take it up a notch today! Get out there and work towards your goals. Remember how important it is to take care of ourselves so we can ride as long as possible
