Keto drinks

So, I'm turning 21 in two weeks, and I want to celebrate with some drinks. Any suggestions for alcoholic beverages that are low carb? Recipes?

Vodka sodas are the only alcoholic beverage I've been drinking because on it's own it's zero carbs and low calories too. However I typically drink it with a lime wedge or some sugar-free torani raspberry syrup which can add about 1g of carbs.2

Coke zero and non-spiced rum is good0

Here's what Dr Mark Hyman says about alcohol
These are screen shots from a free PDF he had/has on his website called Wheat Belly Holiday Survival Guide. Might be able to google it for a copy.
My go to drinks are gin and club soda or tequila (I prefer a gold tequila but it seems most prefer a white) and club soda with at least 3 lime wedges in a salted glass. If you have some liquid sweetener in your purse you can add a bit to get more of a margarita thing going on.
Keep in mind that at least 50% of the time I order either of these I end up getting tonic instead of soda because that's just how they would typically be made. So I try to be very clear when ordering and have had better luck by actually saying "NOT tonic... club soda. I can't have the sugar". That seems to make it stick in their heads. lol5 -
chardonnay is my go to - and if you go during happy hour there is usually one on the happy hour list!1

This is a good resource. I wonder why he excluded tequila. Being a Texan, that is was a staple for me although I found the desire for alcohol seems to have almost completely left me.
Occasionally, I will just use a splash of lemon or lime juice with some tequila or vodka on the rocks. Not something you want to have too many of since it is not really mixed with anything much so alcohol content stays pretty high.1 -
Thank you @Sunny_Bunny_ for sharing this!0

I'll just add be careful! I had my first bit of wine since going keto on my anniversary. Just 2 glasses had me bordering on drunk.2

Yes! You get drink waaaaaaay faster on keto!
@cstehansen I thought it was weird tequila wasn't listed too. That's really may favorite even though I can't quite drink it on rocks with just lime. I need that club soda! Lol
Shots are fine, just can't sip at it without the mixer.0 -
Same as some of you, vodka with club soda and lime. Or a dry white wine. I know they have some sugar and more calories than the clear liquors and club soda, so I am learning to slowly cut down on the wine.0

We do vodka with a sparkling water. Don't drink often but when the urge hits and we have some around vodka with mostly sparkling water hits the spot. I agree with those that say beware you will get drunk much much faster. I was already a light weight but now I can't have more than 1 drink without getting drunk. And that's with only a small small amount of alcohol in the drink.0

Straight Kahlua doesn't have dairy, unless he's talking about pre-mixed White Russian or something.

Thanks for publishing this. I printed it out to refer to during the holidays. I have a party Monday evening and while I have my meal planned (love online menus!), I wanted to switch to something a little more "party-like" for happy hour. I love gin and I have an old recipe from when I was numerically a much younger person. One shot gin, one shot vodka, s.f. 7-up topped off with a splash of lime juice. Served on ice in a TALL glass. Sip and enjoy. If it were 30 years ago, I'd say "repeat", but those days are long over, lol.2

Gin and diet tonic1

Another tequila fan here. I used to drink the 1800 brand coconut tequila, but it has too much sugar to fit into my current WOE. So now if I am drinking tequila I just have it on the rocks with a splash of lime.0

Ketotini
*Vodka/gin - from the freezer
*Ultra-tangy olive/pickle juice
*Olives stuffed with gorgonzola
Bonus - it doubles as breakfast!4 -
Can anyone clarify why the Wheat Belly Holiday Survival Guide says wine fits best? When I entered gin and vodka in the MFP food diary, it showed these as zero carbs, but when I tried wine, (2 glasses), it was quite a bit of carbs, almost my days allotment. I usually have wine if I have a drink and tonight is a holiday party which I might switch to a gin based mixed drink.1

That guide is not focused on carbs. It is focused only on grain content. Most liquors are made from grains.1 -
@suzqtme you can choose non-grain-based vodkas if you want to be extra sure to avoid gluten:

my go to drinks --- JD&Coke or Peach Schnapps & 7....doesn't look like I'll be drinking anything for awhile (also happens to be the only time I drink soda)1

I think regular-flavor kerosene might do the trick.1 -
Jameson whiskey, fresh lime & diet Vernor's (ginger ale) on ice has been my go to lately.
Tried 100% agave white tequila again on recommendation of a friend. I bought 3 different better than most kinds small bottles to try, but came to realize tequila is just YUK for me. I made it work with Perrier Lime, fresh lime juice and a Truvia packet to not be wasteful.1 -

Pray tell, what do you call this cocktail?0 -
