Tues - Eric and I split a bottle of red. It gave me heart burn. Or maybe it was the horseradish I put on my beef stew.....
Last night was my Christmas party and my department closed it down. I think I had 5 drinks. And rode a mechanical pony. Actually 3 of them..... Was a little slow getting up this morning. I have work happy hour today too, but I think I'm going to at least say I have to get my kids so I make it home early.

Not sure what is in store for the weekend. Rain in the forecast. I do have to make fruit cake, cookies, french toast casserole for Lenny's work party Monday and I also need to put something for my office pot luck. So guess, I will be in the kitchen all weekend...drinking

Friday I had some bubbly before dinner, a cocktail, probably 3 glasses of wine at dinner, a shot (Eric's doing) and 2 more bubblies at the bar after. I can't remember the last time I went to a bar...... I drank a little more at home in the hot tub, but that part is fuzzy. I was a little rough Saturday. We stayed home most of the day and I had about 4 drinks. Yesterday I had a big glass of wine while making cookies and a cider.

I may have a 0 tonight. I may not. We'll see.... Only 5 more days of work left in 2016!!!

It was 16 degrees when I got in my car this morning.

I'm hurting today. I probably would have been fine but I went from wine to whiskey. No hard alcohol for me...I just don't handle it well.
    Monday-0
The bathroom renovation needs to finish up soon. I've gone from this is a fun project to I'm just annoyed.

Friday-beach walk with a margarita. No really sure how many drinks, but I wasn't feeling too hot Saturday morning.
Saturday-walked to the market, baked, drank....6 total.
Sunday-7. Not feeling too bad today.
    Goal is Mon-Thurs 0 :)

Been drinking WAY too much...ugh...Sunday I way overdid it but it was just going down so smoothly...2 glasses red, 4 bacardi & diets and 2 random Lumberjack shots (Caramel vodka/whisky) - ouch! I actually didn't feel too bad on Monday but do I ever need a break!
    Monday - 0
Need zero's until Friday, which is when we have my work Christmas party.

Finally got a workout in as well..woohoo!
    Kate - I can't even fathom a beach walk right now - it's 8 degrees here this morning :o

Monday - 0! And Eric was even like, "You're not drinking? But it's Christmas" as he opened his second cider. Yay me. And I did yoga this morning.

But tonight we have dinner plans with friends in town from Seattle. Tomorrow Eric's brother and his new lady are coming over for drinks. Then we're off Friday so we'll be drinking Thursday as well. I sort of doubt I will have any more zeros until 2017..... If I'm being honest.....

Washington Red Apples (the drink) are my downfall. they go down way to easy. I will probably be no zeros until next year and then I will really get with the program. At least it warmed up a bit ( in the 40's) and we have rain. I don't like it when it gets cold.

Sound like the lushes are lushing :drinker: Tis the season and all that.
Monday- 0 and boy do I feel so much better this morning. I may have some wine tonight if I have a productive day. As long as I stay away from the hard stuff and moderate, I should be ok. But overall I'd say my chances of logging many 0's or getting a ton of exercise is probably pretty low until after the holidays.

    Me too Gary!!
I had wine last night. The bathroom is done and looks great!
Now time to redirect my energy toward my Christmas Eve dinner. Planning my menu. Usual Tamales made from scratch (in honor of my Mexican mother) along with prime rib and a honeybaked ham. Off to the grocery store to stock up. I'm sure there will be more wine this evening :drinker:

Steak and red wine last night. Kate, I am the lazy of all lazies and I am right there with you, Gary, on the not even trying part. Have a good one all and May you have a happy and blessed Solstice!!!!

Enforced 7 days of no lushness. Have muscle spasm and trapped nerve in neck and meds prescribed meant I couldn't drink alcohol :'( mind you I have lost most of the week to being in a drug induced daze anyway! So eating crap and 10 days since I've been able be work out properly, it's all going to pot. Back to gym tomorrow for a one armed workout though!

I pinned a recipe from Bon Appetit for tamales the other day. I was thinking about making them for New Years.... Do you use lard as the fat for the shell Syd? I would love your recipe! :)

I have been a lush. And somewhat lazy. I get a workout done about 95% of the time on my day off. The cold months are harder because a run to the park is out of the question when it's super cold. But yesterday during naps, I watched Love Actually and folded laundry. And then watched a great UK/UL game, even though my team lost. And I drank a lot of wine with my BIL and his new girlfriend. Was supposed to go to dinner with my girlfriends for our 6th annual fancy Christmas diner tonight, but one friend is sick, so we're rescheduling. I'm sort of glad....We're off work tomorrow so I'd rather not be hungover anyways.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays lushes!!

Ashley lard works best because well, it's lard. I use Crisco. I will also confess to going to this little hole in the wall Mexican place here in San Diego and getting the masa preparada. (Already prepared masa for the outer part of the tamal) If you have a really good authentic Mexican place, take advantage of them! My best advice for the masa is to mix it well. Like when you think it's mixed, keep mixing it until it's light and airy....kinda like the texture of hummus. Then refrigerate for an hour and then re-whip. you can add more chicken broth at that point if needed. That's what keeps the masa tender after steaming. Also, don't be afraid to add salt. The masa itself doesn't have a ton of flavor. I use low sodium chicken broth and add 2-4 teaspoons of kosher salt and some some New Mexico chile powder (it gives the masa flavor and a slightly reddish tint, which I like.) Good luck! It's a labor of love for me because I remember helping my mom as a kid. Big assembly line in the kitchen...the adults were all drinking, of course ;)
Got my grocery shopping done. I was literally ran into by a car in the parking lot as I was walking by....some old guy backed up without looking. I'm fine...he was more shaken up than I was after I had a little chat with him about how sh!tty of a driver he is. It's scary out there folks..be careful.
2 glasses of wine last night..more of the same tonight I'm sure.

Argh my fridge has broken just in time for Christmas. New one coming tomorrow as gotta have something to chill the wine in! Managed to squash the important food into my Mums fridge temporarily.
It's lovely to read about everyone's Christmas plans and yummy food. Enjoy
