Can some one tell me if Porridge oats are a good carb or one to avoid. Thank you for your help.

It will help to know what your daily carb goal is and if you are diabetic or possibly insulin resistant.
1 in 3 people are insulin resistant, most of them having no idea. So I tend to lean toward the better safe than sorry side and think all grains are problematic. But that's an assumption.

I don't have any blood sugar issues with steel cut oats (irish oats) but the instant ones will make me crash every time.

Thank you both for your help. I'm not diabetic and dont know If I am insulin resistant. I am aiming for 50g carbs a day but don't usually make that.

50 a day gives you a little leeway so if you like oats then you can fit a serving of them in. You just have to prioritize them over other carb sources. Half a cup seems to be about 27 carbs so that leaves you around 20. Be aware that a lot of zero carb items actually have trace carbs that add up so I'd track the rest of the day pretty carefully.

They are carbs that have to be counted, if you are counting carbs.

I'd say go with it for now. You can always make further changes later on if you don't feel like you're getting anywhere or start to have too many carbs each day.
Maybe try some days where you have something else too so you can introduce some other options in case you do decide you don't want to use up so many of your carbs on that.
