New to PCOS

Hi, I'm new here, first day. I was formally diagnosed with it about 2 weeks ago(long time with symptoms though). I have the messed up periods, had to use Clomid to get pregnant, have hirsutism, high testosterone, weight gain, insulin resistance.
The Dr put me on bcp and started Metformin 500mg 2x day a 10 days ago. So far no side effects; started 500mg 1x day for a week. She also recommended weight management which they offer in the clinic. They gave me Adipex 37.5 for a month. She explained is not for long term, but to give me a kick-start and that the goal is lifestyle changes. Have to go in a month, if I don't loose 2#'s in that month, she won't give me another Rx for it.
I started brisk walking for 45-60 minutes and I'm keeping myself away from sweets, flour, bread, fruit juices, etc. I don't own a scale, so don't know if I'm down some #'s already. I feel less sugar cravings, stay less hungry, a little more energy also.
I don't have a "support system". For years it's been me, myself and I, since I've cut a lot of people from my life because I'm ashamed of my weight gain and have been judge by "friends" about it, causing me to be down and sad all the time. That's why I'm here, I want to read about people in similar condition as me and I love success stories, they motivate me. The success of others helps them personally but also helps others struggling with the same issues.
Thanks.
