Started trying this 21 days ago. The first 10 days I lost 9 lbs. then gained a little. Lost it and now day 21 I lost another 1/2 lb. so all in all 9.5 lbs sounds great! So far I am sticking to things fairly well. No craving. Suprisingly I haven't "craved" chocolate, pasta, bread, rice, chips or potatoes. And I'm not really having hunger pangs. I will try to open my diary (if I remember how) :) so I can get advice & tips. Basically I am winging this and trying to read what I can. Love reading blogs of people who r living this life so suggestions there would b great too. Thanks all!

    Hello and welcome!

Took a look at your diary and a few things stuck out to me, such as the tootsie pop and the apple - but it would depend on what your carb limit is. If it fits and doesn't cause you any harm, then by all means.

One crucial piece of reading I would suggest is this: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10358179/keto-flu-dizzy-weak-tired-headaches-cramping-muscles-electrolyte-imbalance-may-be-your-problem#latest

It is often overlooked by people new to this WOE but it is very important.

Great that you haven't craved anything and great that you aren't hungry. Satisfaction with less is a beautiful benefit of this WOE. Of course, it comes and goes but generally being satisfied with less is awesome.

    Congratulations on your loss!

The tootsie pop was a grab impulse because I just wanted something

I love My Zero Carb Life! I am keto but want to take it to the next step. The author was on keto for years before going zero carb. Even if you are not interested in taking things that far, it is very informative http://myzerocarblife.jamesdhogan.com/wp/start/

Thank you for the responses. So far I am not experiencing any symptoms I don't think. Did have one day that ended in some dizziness but chalked it up to inner ear. Now I wonder. Also had one or two nights with mild cramp in my foot. Nothing bad Just now learning some about keto. I did begin reading butter bob. Looks very interesting! Was able to browse some on there today. May have more time tomorrow.

@JedsMom63 your response above fairly screams electrolyte imbalance. Your dizziness is one of the well-known symptoms of the "Keto Flu." You need to pay special attention to salt (sodium / potassium) on Keto because this way of eating (WOE) acts as a natural diuretic. You need to get a MINIMUM of 3000-5000mg of sodium every day. Yes. Seriously. EVERY. DAY. The cramps in your legs...more electrolyte imbalance. You will probably need to take a magnesium supplement to help with that issue. I recommend any of the following: Magnesium Glycinate, Natural Calm, or Magnesium oil. Stay far, far away from Magnesium Citrate unless you don't mind being fast friends with your bathroom! Seriously suggest you read the link @samanthaluangphixay was kind enough to post above for you like right this very minute...yes, the information it contains really is that important!

I am already on a magnesium supplement so that is covered. Will start keeping up on the sodium though. Usually have never had a problem with getting enough of that more towards the too much side. But then again that was the eat chips all day me ;). I am learning. Just slowly I guess. These past two weeks have been harder. Hubby has a kidney stone and we have been back and forth to the ER and Doctor. Tomorrow is surgery :p

Wow. Just seen that someone actually was wondering about me! How sweet (((hugs))). Sadly since hubbys surgery things went WAY down hill. But, remembering how I felt when I briefly did this way of life I am trying it once again. Again, sadly, weight is horribly up. Even more than before. I have hit a new high there

@JedsMom63 Caring for someone with kidney stones, almost as bad as having them. I was at my wits end on how to give relief for my husband. No surgery just homecare until he passed it. Longest 5 days. My brother had to have ultrasound to break it up and then wait to pass it. I hope your husband is feeling better now.

It is hard to take care of yourself much less start something new when you are out of routine and stressed. Please let us know how you are going. I hope you get back on track. Your health matters too.

Thank u for the kind words and support!! Hubby is fine now. We came home from surgery with a stent and that was not a fun time AT all. He has had several kidney stones and one Other surgery for them. Never a stent
