how to count

I am new to this board!
I was on a low carb diet before, followed by a dietician and it really worked. I was counting mainly the carbs absorbed outside of fruits or vegetables, unless in a recipe, and just checking that was easier and it worked...of course you still have to make good choices.
Is it possible to use this system in that way? If so how to do it?
Thank you

I think each of us has own little system or tweak that works for us individually. Yours seemed to work for you before so why not again? If you're back due to weight regain just figure out what you need to tweak to keep it up long term.3

Welcome! I agree with kpk54. There are a lot of variations of low carb ways of eating on this board based on what works for each individual.0

@kpk54 nailed it. Some people don't track at all and just try to limit carby foods while eating fat and/or protein to satiety while others track very meticulously. I used to track meticulously but now I'm kind of in the middle. Some people claim to just not be able to lose weight if they don't track because they would otherwise always overeat either calories or carbs. Some people distinguish between net carbs and total carbs while others only count total carbs. Some track fruits as they consider it "nature's dessert" that should only be eaten in moderation while others don't count fruit at all.
I say do what works for you. If eating and tracking the way you did before worked (and didn't cause you too much strife), do it. Also, it would be helpful to know what your goals are. Are you doing simply low carb or are you planning to do keto which has even tighter restrictions? If you are doing keto then for someone new to that WOE, I would advise tracking everything. If you plan to do simply low carb then it might be helpful to track for a few days or weeks until you get and idea of the macro breakdown of your food and then after that you should be able to guesstimate before eating.1
