This week our mini challenge is journaling, either here on this thread or private if you prefer. While we are all (I hope!) keeping a food journal (i.e. logging on myfitnesspal), we might not be "logging" the emotional journey of our weight loss. Weight loss is more than just eating well. Successful dieting often involves dealing with the emotions surrounding your food choices

Things to consider this week and jot down:

1) Record the (general) time of your meal/snacks to observe when you eat & when you feel hunger. Track how long you go between meals, maybe you'll find that overeating is a result of large gaps between meals or perhaps the reverse and you find that you are eating too frequently and not actually when you are hungry.
2) Are you an emotional or stress eater? If you find yourself eating between meals or having the urge to binge: try to determine your mood...are you bored, tired, anxious? Try going for a walk, chatting with a friend, drinking a beverage. Write down the feelings you are experiencing & see if trying an alternate activity removes that urge to overeat.
3) Be grateful for the body you are in now. You might think you don’t have much to be grateful when it comes to your body since you are working so hard to change it. But investing a few minutes each day in simply indulging in warm feelings of appreciation will definitely pay off. Feeling grateful builds confidence, puts you in a better mood, gives you the strength you need to enact change. Write down what you love about yourself and your body!
4) Plus anything else you want to write down and reflect on :) But remember to try to find the time each day to sit for a moment and journal.

I love this. I definitely think I leave too big of gaps between meals, so it will be interesting to see for sure!

Okay last night I got in an argument with my bf and proceeded to head right to the kitchen after. I ended up eating a breakfast pita thing which added to my day but I didn't go as crazy with food as I used to when upset so that's something. I've been noticing with the end of university coming up in 2 weeks I have to stay on top of myself otherwise it's so easy to mindlessly eat or stress eat!! Long story short, I'm working on it!
