I just want to say how much I enjoy this group, everything is respectful and supportive.
I recently looked into a few other MFP groups and they are nasty!
Thank you!

I don't think I said anything wrong? Didn't use any names or specific groups?

"Other mfp groups and they're nasty!" Maybe I'm paranoid but from what I've understood we are to act we are the only ones in this corner of the internet...maybe some of the og' s can clear this up @ralflott @baconslave @KnitOrMiss @FIT_Goat

Sorry. Family...You know how it is...
Our instructions were to not talk about the Main Forums, specifically, but the main premise is "no drama." Criticizing other parts of MFP opens the door to causing drama. I think it's ok to recognize that our group is awesome, and some groups lack as nice an atmosphere as we enjoy, but we'll just leave it at that.

Thank you, my darling low-carbers-in-crime for keeping this group so supportive and awesome.

It seems ok to say "other groups" are nasty but not "other MFP groups" specifically

It's related to ancient history that almost made our group extinct. We all get so much from this we aren't willing to risk even a slight misunderstanding to end up being reported on us.

I definitely agree with your sentiment. Keeping the nasty groups generic is best. And honestly, I'm in lots of groups in different places and it exists in all of them. This group is very unique. For sure!

Can someone just delete this. I can't figure out how. Regretting posting. Didn't think I said anything wrong but we are obviously under the microscope for other reasons so let's just delete this please

I think the warning is more directed toward the audience going forward. If others add their own opinions and elaborate on them, that's where things really become an issue.
What you said has been posted numerous times before and in some of those cases others chimed in with detailed examples, bashing the place that shall not be named.
Honestly, as it stands, it doesn't really harm anything but it's the potential conversation that comes afterward that is more risky.
But as long as the conversation doesn't name that which shall not be, then all is well.

Definitely don't feel bad about it. Now you know and so does anyone else reading this.

I understand the need to vent about bad online experiences revolving around low carb. I made a ranting post myself a couple months ago. Lol
It just comes down to not specifically naming any MFP associated group.

    You're all good. :)

There is a stickie that explains all of this pretty well. I think it is called "Group Expectations". If this has already been mentioned, then never mind.

The key I learned from a regular MFP forum moderator was to state my point but not make it personal.

Instead of saying Your post sucks just say something like I do not see it that way in a medical sense.

Perhaps not the best example but it is not a direct insult at least. Perhaps the goal is not to directly attack another poster but yet be able to question info that you may see as being incorrect based on known science of today so others will know to dig deeper on the subject.

I can be 100% correct but if I as a poster does not have personal creditability with the reader then my correct post has no value to the reader.

Over the last two years I have seen the quality of MFP forums info improve across the board. The key is not to fight with the very few that may post just to cause a fight.
