Good morning GOAD.
Everyone says it, but just how do you do it? How do you take the guidelines of the WW program and turn them into a lifestyle you can live every day...from now on? That is what we are here to explore. Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Newbie? Join in! Veteran? Join in! Your thoughts may be just what someone else needs to hear.
Monday -- RedSassyPants
Tuesday -- 88olds
Wednesday -- goldenfrisbee
Thursday -- imastar2
Friday -- Al_Howard
Today's topic: Modest Changes
Its a lot of little things. What is a modest change or adjustment that you've made that is working for you? You know, parking at the far side of the lot, skim milk in your coffee, mustard instead of mayo, stuff like that.

I love cold milk and can drink a 1/2 gallon a day. So I've replaced it with water at mealtime1

Fruit for snacks. If I'm REALLY hungry a cheese stick or the Ostram Beef and Elk sticks.0

Limiting what food I bring to work. If I don't bring it I can't eat it. I also have a no spending money at work rule so I leave my credit card locked in my desk so I can't run over to the food court when a craving hits. It helps my wallet and my waistline.0

Eating fruit instead of junk food at night.0

I think planning to hit my daily target has been most helpful. Though fruit for snacks and water really do help me keep my mind in the game. Through in a little cardio and suddenly things happen0

The daily little "keep on keepin on" and not worrying about a little detour yesterday.0

I take the stairs. I live on the fourth floor of my building. I only get in the elevator when I have to move heavy stuff.
Frozen broccoli. Its right there close at hand, ready to go. I add it to almost everything i cook. Not oatmeal, not yet.
Carrot chips are the new chip of choice at our house.0 -
I have a few that I'm happy that I changed.
Gave up: Diet Coke and artificial sweeteners in my coffee,
Now order skim milk in my Starbucks,
My wife eats a lot of FF carp, I use her FF mayo,0 -

Never heard or seen these! Where do you purchase them?
TJ? Whole Foods?0 -
Bringing my own food to work and leaving my wallet safely hidden in my car. I'm way too lazy to go down three flights of stairs and then way out in the parking lot to retrieve it for a vending machine purchase.0

When I started WW, I did the 'park farther away' thing as a way to start moving at 350#. I started taking the elevator up 2 floors and taking the stairs for the remaining flight. Eventually I added another flight, and now I take the stairs 3 flights up, a few times a day.
At first I made a switch from regular cheetos to baked cheetos. Eventually I realized I didn't like them all that much, and stopped buying them altogether. But I would really have had a problem going cold turkey. So the 'small steps' thing really does work for me.0 -
@Jimb376mfp A carrot chip is just a slice of a carrot. Don't know how they cut them exactly. They have them at Publix in the produce section.0

I have removed all sweeteners from my diet. NOT adding sugar or sweetener.
Removed dairy (for the most part)0 -
MINI parking happens to be on the back-40 too so I've been walking the distance to public buildings since before joining WW (often to the complaints of my riding companions).
I too have cut way back on milk. Like @goldenfrisbee , I used to down a half-gallon of it pretty quickly. Now, I barely drink any.
While I'm not on an exercise program, I am finding I enjoy doing physical tasks in a body that weighs less. Could be hiking; could be hauling rock (on a good day), clearing brush, etc. Exercise that isn't advertised as exercise actually feels good!0 -
Yea, I stopped most milk years ago. Only do it when I can't sleep. Am doing plain Greek yogurt regularly, especially at night with fruit.0
-
French fries once a month and they have to be good ones (like 5 Guys burger fries)0
-
I park away from the door, both at work and when out shopping. Extra steps.0

Leaving off 95 % of sweets. Chocolate, Cakes, Pies, Hershey's Kisses. Drinking at least 64oz of water daily most days more. Snacking on Greek non fat plain yogurt with fresh cut strawberries 1/2 cup an 1/4 cut fresh blueberries. Other changes like a balanced nutrition of foods.0
