Me, my weight and ME!

Hi guys,
just got started on OMAD a week ago, after working up to it from 16/8 and 20/4. Actually the shift was spontaneous, as my appetite was pretty much non existent^^
I have severe ME/CFS and can't really move much at all as I'm pretty much housebound 95% of the time. However one of the few things I can control is when and what I eat, so I'm giving IMF and OMAD a try to see if I can shift some weight and get closer to my normal range. I have done low carb for 2 years and it really helps limit the pain and brain fog, but with my daily energy expenditure at almost BMR level it was hard to get the weight moving. OMAD seems to do the trick!
My stats:
*starting weight 3/28/17: 80.9 kg
*current weight 4/4/17: 79.9 kg (-1 kg, yaay!)
*height: 171 cm
*sex: female
Goal weight range: 60-64kg

Welcome. I hope OMAD improves your health.1

Thanks!
I have noticed since starting OMAD that my tolerance for caffeine is lower. One cup gives me the same result as two before.
I am managing sleepless nights with small portions of carbs with my dinner, that seems to be doing the trick.
My energy levels are up, but it seems to be mostly higher cortisol levels. That is, on the surface I feel like I have more energy, but if I try to act on it my fatigue is as debilitating as ever. Trying and partially failing to not act on it! Meditation and a bit of coconut oil in my tea during the early afternoon appears to be helpful.
OMAD is mostly super easy. I worried it would be hard as I have very little to occupy my time. Both mental and physical activities can be very limited and eating can be my only source of entertainment! However, as I'm not really hungry I don't really think about food at all, even when I'm bored out of my mind. I love it!
I'm not counting calories but trusting my body to adjust my appetite as needed. My meals are not that big, but as long as I'm not hungry and my energy levels are equal to or better than before they are probably the right size:)
My period is coming up and it usually affects my appetite big time, so I'm timing my splurge day for it^^1 -
I am home all day with a 6 month old so he keeps me pretty busy but I still get hungry during the day and I find that chewing gum and drinking lots of water really helps...Welcome and good luck!!!1

Thanks! Yep, I drink lots of water1

Welcome aboard! Wishing you success in improving your health.1

Keep at it. Little victories add up!1

PMS is on and I'm noticing increasing hunger levels and a bit of water retention. Both are too be expected:) Coconut oil in my tea deals with the hunger and the water weight will disappear in a few days
I weigh myself every day because I love the data and to play around with it. I'm doing graphs for both daily weight and an average of the last week because they can both tell you a lot! My actual daily weight is increasing slightly right now because of the water retention (spot on timing with the onset of PMS!), however my daily average is still decreasing.
The average is probably more accurate regarding weight (as mine can easily fluctuate 1-2 kilos in either direction during the week with water retention or dehydration), however I'm learning more about my response to specific changes when I follow my daily weight (like the 2 kg water gain after my splurge day indicating I probably overdid it on carbs!).
I'll probably post the graphs later on when I have more data1 -
Data is good IMO0

I don't have a period anymore because I had a procedure to end it but I still have my hormones so when its supposed to be that time of the month I still get bloated and retain water, as I am right now but it's better than having a 2 week long period1
-
The good thing about water retention is the sudden massive weight loss when it goes makes me feel very accomplished, undeserved or not2
-
My cycle has completely done a 180 for the BETTER! I used to have horrible cramping and bloating that left me unable to do anything but lay on the couch for about 4 days. Now...I have no bloat or pain and the cravings are so much less. I'm so happy!! I'm curious to see if you will have less water retention as your OMAD journey progresses!! I hope so!2
-
Wow, I'm so happy for you @KetoKaHee
My cycle is actually super regular and my period only 2-3 days with only mild cramps the first 24h and pretty much only water retention and a bit of moodiness 3-4 days in advance. I can usually tell it's coming when I start tearing up about my health issues, which I'm normally pretty stoic about
I used to have a lot more PMS issues for up to 10 days , but it all sorted itself out naturally over a few months when I stopped BC and started using Natural Cycles instead:) A keto diet certainly helped!
Less bloating would be welcome, though! I'll keep my eye out for changes next month!1 -
How in the world is a dude supposed to be supportive here? Umm, good job?8
-
I think that's a perfect show of support @leveejohn My posts will be back to gender neutral for the next month
I did my splurge day today and overdid it on carbs, man I seriously do not miss that feeling of constant craving and hunger that plummeting bloodsugar brings on! It was all yummy though, and I'm set and satisfied for another week and a half of low carb OMAD happiness I will keep it to a large dessert next time for sure, I had to sleep for an hour this afternoon the carb crash was so heavy3 -
I always overdo it with carbs on splurge day1

You're a good guy for even venturing a comment, @leveejohn!3

@leveejohn LOL2

This last month has been a struggle and I didn't have the energy to update here, but I'm still on OMAD and loosing weight:)
After visiting with family over easter I had a big flare. After it died down I was still very reduced and bedridden for two weeks. I'm back to normal (1000-2000 steps a day without flaring). During the visit with my family and while flaring after I didn't manage to keep to OMAD but kept my eating window as small as possible. I wrote it of as a learning period (the first three weeks on OMAD), and after it ended I have loosed weight slowly but steadily:)
Starting weight: 82.4 kg
Current weight: 78.8 kg
Average daily loss: 0.117 kg (not including learning period)0 -
Aww, sorry to hear about your flare-up. I'm glad you're back to normal now and it's great you've dropped more weight!1

Thanks, @wsandy85121

You're welcome0

Time for some charts! I have also seen some inches disappear around my waist and more, and my calfs and face are visibly slimmer. I always see it first in my calfs for some reason, so I find it very encouraging^^
My daily weigh-ins in blue, ideal weight in red and goal range min and max in yellow and green:) first flat section is my three-week learning period, the last is my goal maintenance zone.
Close up of daily weigh-ins from 2017/03/29 until today
Weight loss controlled for daily fluctuations, based on an average of the last weeks daily weigh-ins

Nice chart and you've lost 7.94 pounds total since starting weight KUTGW!!!1

You can see the loss trend. The fluctuations don't mean much as long as the trend is heading where it needs to be. Way to go!0

what language is that in the graphic? seems you are up to a good start. I'm pulling for you, keep going0
