So April is upon us and the weather is changing. Down in South Carolina it is pretty hot, so now tans and sweating in my future. Let's keep up the momentum we had from last month. I would like to maybe try out something along the lines of themes to go along with weigh-ins. This month how about we bring up the Gym? What do you work on, how often you go, or just any ideas you would like to give.

Thank you all and welcome to the new people!

hey all, like an ill fated star wars game I am now 13st13. so thats 3st1 down (43lbs).

i went to the gym breifly 6 years ago. but i soon realised that all i was doing was the treadmill and bike which i can do for free outside.

so now rather than paying to not go to the gym i do nothing for free!

Thanks for starting the new monthly thread again, Colton! And thanks to Dave for bringing up the group on the podcast, despite still not participating! :p

Today was my first Sunday weigh-in for the month. The last month wasn't quite as good as I had hoped, and it brought my overall weekly average down to 1.9 lbs, below 2.0 for the first time since starting. But, on the other hand it was still losing so I'm calling it a success.

    Current Weight: 294.2
    March Weight: 300.8
    Total Lost: 120.8

I'm under 300 for the first time in ages (over a decade, I think?), so that feels good!

Hey, no problem! I understand that people might not remember of have time. It's here to be there when you need it. Yeah was super happy Dave plugged it and I did notice the members go up from it. I feel like if people don't do much of a change week to week then they are less likely to post. This way you just do it when you want during the month.

Also great job getting below 300! Glad the holidays are over, makes it easier to push food away. Good luck this month dropping another 5 pounds  .
@nelly_1981 free is always the best price. Do you live in the city where you live? Ever thought of picking up just small 5-10 pound weights ( .5 stone - 1 stone???). I used to keep the weights by me so when I'd die in a game, 10-20 on each arm. Rewarding myself with dying.

    What's good!

    Second weigh in numbers
    Last Week: 162
    This Week: 160.171
    Loss: 1.8 Lbs

Felt good getting back into a flow at the gym again. However, only made it three times last week because came down with some stomach bug. But I did push away ordering junk food this weekend.

I am also trying to plan out more meals, as I did earlier this semester. I love to "cook" but as a graduate student don't really have much time to do so. Trying to strictly stick with like 5-ingredient meals.

i live on the outskirtsof glasgow but through my my work as a contracting civil eng i mostly stay away during the week in some far corner of scotland. cheers, dumb bells is a good idea im defo going to get a set.

my only regular weights atm is reps on a 75cl bottle of buckfast. i chuckle everytime i see the guys on gb drinking it as its been my tipple since i was 16.

ps the uk weight system is very odd. we are taught and use kg in pretty much everything apart from our own weights.. similar with lengths / heights

I plan out my meals like you @Rwa55 but it tends to be less healthy options. I'm saving up so I have PBJ on wheat for dinner, fruits as snacks and that ICE flavored water stuff. Occasionally a pack of crackers and always have a serving of yogurt to keep everything going well.

I'd love to go to the gym personally, was always fun. I always did 30-1hr on the treadmill and then 45 on weights and 15 on decompressing. The downside to the gym is the time commitment.

Was MIA last week and almost missed this week.
    Last check in: 160.171
Last weeks check in would have been: 163
    This Check in: 162

Last two weeks have been a bit rough. Two fridays ago went out for some drinks with friends and ate like a *kitten*-head. I have one more week until the semester is over so its been crazy busy. This past weekend I had to do data collection for a research project and ended up putting in over 26 hours of work in two days. Which caused me to snack a bunch. So completely understandable. But I'm ready to get back on the horse.

@ColtonrDaniels Yeah the time commitment can be difficult. I do my best to do at least 45 mins to an hour depending on how busy I am that day.

For some reason I have been struggling with eating again recently. I binged on a bag of easter chocolates last week, and then yesterday I was feeling crappy about spending my birthday alone and ate a whole thing of cookies.

Ugh, it didn't even feel good! I have been good about controlling all of that emotional eating since I started trying to lose last year, so it really sucks to fall back into bad patterns ~15 months later.

@Squirrelnaut I'm sorry to hear about the struggle you have going on right now. I really hate that I can't be close to people I consider friends. I'd for sure hang with you. I only start eating that way when I feel burnt out from working and literally have to throw away the food to stop. It's not easy. I tend to just not buy that stuff anymore. Cause if I did I'd binge it.

@Rwa55 sounds like the last two weeks were pretty good but for different reasons. Social eating is hard to balance out for sure. I didn't know you were in classes. That stress I'm sure didn't help nor the energy drinks / coffee. I don't know what you drink to keep you pepped.

@Squirrelnaut Everyone falls off at some point. Just gotta get back on track. You got this.

@ColtonrDaniels yeah I have a week left of classes and get to "celebrate" with going to a conference in Texas. Its going to be tough..PA doesn't have good BBQ so I'm looking for it. I do have a friend and we've agreed to watch the others eating over the trip though so that'll be good. I believe I said it before but yeah I cut out soft drinks except for when I need a mixer. And I'll have some coffee (maybe like 3-4 a week?).

I have to walk past a Pizza Hut anytime I walk to campus so I get cravings for it regularly after a long day or good workout. So every other week I'll crave a pizza and order one Get my fill and have leftover pizza and conflicted on what to do. I don't want to throw it out cause thats a waste of money but I don't super want to finish the rest of it later.

So moving forward I've decided to go to a local shop where I can get like 1-2 slices instead a full pizza. That way I can get my fill without going crazy.
