Almost embarrassed to ask...

I feel really stupid even asking this question, because I've never been someone to really take a lot of stock on how I appear on any given day. I hardly wear any makeup with the exception of some mascara and eye shadow, but now that my body is changing and I'm losing weight, I've realized that my vanity is rising. Have any of you dealt with this? I didn't expect this at all. I expected to feel better about myself, and I do, but I'm also more conscious of how I physically appear. I'll try on 3 different shirts before I finally decide on something, or I'll think the next day's outfit for a long time the night before. I'm not out to impress anyone, but I have found myself stressing out a little over how I look. Some might see that as a plus, but once I realized it I was almost bummed out a little.

Absolutely! I feel like when I was heavier, I felt so defeated all the time (I didn't like how ANYTHING looked on me) so I just didn't really care. Now that certain things are starting to look nice again, I'm more conscious of that and try to wear those things.

I don't see it as a bad thing at all. Like you said, I'm not out to impress anyone, but now that I feel better about myself and my body, I want other people to see that too.

    Does that make sense?

I'm sure you are feeling better about yourself and you probably do want others to notice even if that isn't your goal. Its an affirmation that the hard work you are putting in is being noticed by more than 1 person. I don't call that vanity I call it making an effort to put your best self forward. The stress is probably because its out of the norm for you.
