    WTG Jim!

I must admit that when you joined this group, I wasn't sure you were going to stick around. But, I'm happy to say, you adapted to us, accepted that we weren't "mean", and decided to stay. And I'm glad you did :)

    LOL
Yes, I was the New Kid on the Block and had to learn from some Old Timers! I have truly learned a lot here on GOAD and enjoy the camaraderie of us all making the WL journey together.
I was just thinking of some of my GoaD mentors the other day. The Tough Love was given without pulling any punches.

I'll bet most of those people you were thinking of were those of us who were the "meanest" too :) I know it was that way for me. There was a person on the GOAD board when I first joined who I thought must hate me because she was so "mean" to me in some of her replies. Bish (another oldie on GOAD) and I met in person and I told him that I wondered why she didn't like me. He told me that she wasn't being mean to me...that she was just trying to help me.

One thing I remember in particular was when I was so proud of the fact that I had switched to ICBINB (I Can't Believe It's Not Butter) instead of real butter. She blasted me for that and asked me if I planned to avoid butter for the rest of my life. Of course I told her "no, but I can give it up for a while." She told me that if I wasn't willing to give butter up forever that I should not give it up to lose weight. And one of my favorite phrases, "Don't give up anything to lose weight that you aren't willing to give up forever" was born from that response.

We ended up being the best of board friends after a while. And I learned so MUCH from her "mean" replies.

Congrats Jim! I love 'new' lows' and can't wait to post one, but for now ...

Down 0.4 making 5 weeks in a row with a loss. I'll take it!

Before the weight watchers board was closed down, I was able to go back and read the early comments that went back and forth between Jim and the more experienced Goadies. It made for a great read.

They say once it's on the Internet it's there FOREVER. But I wouldn't know how to access it now.

Yup; me too! I'm sorry we lost access to those archives; there were some gems among them! Glad to be here now though, it's different but it's still good!
