Essentially the same, which is amazing to me. I was traveling more than 20 hours during the past week, and even when I wasn't traveling, I was not able to get out and do much. It rained a good bit while we were in NC, and I hated leaving my sister who is only able to get out for very short periods of time and can only walk very short distances.

Food was also a bit of problem. The family reunion was fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, deviled eggs, etc. All the southern stuff! The only vegetables were green beans cooked with salt pork, corn with tons of butter already on it, and broccoli casserole that I don't even want to imagine what it contained. LOL I left home for college at the age of 16, and it's probably a good thing that I did. I would have probably had a stroke by now!

Every time I go down, I am struck by the fact that I am now a VERY different person than many of the people I know down there. They tend to be religious conservatives, and well--you guys know that that definitely does not describe me. I also come eye to eye with health issues that appear to run in the family and that you either cannot change or can only modify to a small degree. I thought about this when I read about Bob Harper's heart attack. He ate well, he was in fantastic shape, he could certainly afford good preventive care, but it appears his genes caught up with him. He grew up in TN, right in the middle of the stroke belt. The good thing is that being reminded of all this also motivates me to do more about what I can.

Today, I'm playing catch-up from being away with no back-up, but I PROMISE YOU, I am going to start today putting down one small thing I will do. And today, I will purposefully walk at least a half hour. That's not much, but I have a meeting right after work, I have several errands to run, I still have to unpack, and----the NATS are playing the Orioles again tonight! I do have my priorities!

Up a bit due to just more food and fun.

Sarah, you did well considering your trip. And, I can totally relate to the religious conservative thing. It's kind of an issue in Utah, lol, as you probably know. It's not me either. My religion is my family, nature, golf, and baseball, ha ha!

You need to put your treadmill in front of the TV durning Nats games. Two birds. ;)

It was a real shock to hear about Bob Harper, huh? My Dad's parents were originally from Tennessee, and my Dad had two major strokes. It's scary. We MUST put our priorities and habits right.

I also posted on the Facebook page. I hope you'll consider doing that more. It's so much easier for those of us (me) who have better access via smartphone, and it shows notifications of posts. Also easier to share articles, photos and such. Do you have Facebook on your smartphone? Consider it. I look at it a few times a day unless I'm out of town. No log in. Quick. And it looks like Deanna and Juanita and maybe light will participate there in addition to me and Lois. If not, I'll continue to post with you here.

I'm off to Portland on Friday. I promise to try to focus and not overdo it with the eating and alcohol. Good luck, Lois, with your injection.

Thanks ladies!!! I've read both of your posts and I really hope that Sara joins us on FB as well. I won't leave either of you behind. But I am really hoping to move to FB. As Sheesh mentioned, we have a higher probability of Deanna, Juanita, Kelly and possibly Light even joining us. They are all active on FB. Also, it is more private. This page is viewable by anyone who comes across it. What I'm saying is that it is a closed group and you have to be invited to see what's going on. My family has no idea what I post in there unless I tell them personally, so it's not out there for all of your friends to see.

Ok...so since BOTH of you mentioned Bob Harper...I got curious. I had no idea he had had a heart attack! WOW. Sadly, genetics do play a large role, and that's a reason I need to keep telling myself to take my BP a little more serious than I do.

Sheesh - have fun in Portland. Have fun, but be conscientious as well.

    Hi, Ladies,

I will try to transition myself to FB, but for now, I'm also going to post here. It keeps me accountable to me, too, and I just find it so much easier to read down a thread that is only MFP, rather than weed through all the stuff that shows on my FB page. One issue, I have with FB is going back to find something. Here, it's a snap. I don't worry too much about who is reading this. I tried to find a group that I once found when looking for an answer to something, and I realized how hard it is to find a group unless you know the name of it or have it tagged. Only new groups are featured, and we're far from new. Yeah for us! I think the fact that our name doesn't have common search terms probably keeps us pretty hidden. That is good and bad. No new members--but pretty private.

I want to you know that my using this board as a way to be accountable did work last night. Went from my meeting to errands to picking up salads at Boston Market for dinner to watching the ballgame. But at 10:30 p.m., I laced up the shoes, grabbed a jacket, and said to Hubby, "I'll be back in a half hour." I absolutely would not have done that had I not committed to you two that I would. I was tired, it was very chilly and dark--but doggone it, I said I would!

Oh, and by the way, my walking buddy sent me a text message while I was in NC. She is now having trouble with a knee, so that is why she has not been walking. She mentioned that once or twice through time, and it sounds like it has kicked up. Hopefully, she can also work on that in her PT.

Just thought of something. Do you log your food using your phone? I found that next to impossible while in NC. On my big monitor, it's easy. On my phone, it's a real chore.

Ah Sarah - you present is with a challenge and I am here with a solution - and with pictures.

On the FB Desktop on the left side you should see "groups" and sns fitty bittys will be listed. Click there and it will take you only to the groups interactions

On the mobile click on the three bars in the lower right corner. Click on groups. Then click sns fitty bittys and Shazam - you're viewing only the group conversation. See how easy?!?!?

Also you'll have a lot more activity and interaction there than you just me and sheesh. And while the two of us are FABULOUS you may benefit from more people.

Please give it an honest effort to participate there.

Thanks, Lois. Sending good thoughts your way today for RELIEF! And by the way, hubby takes voltarin and says it has been a godsend. He has lots of gastric problems, but he has been able to take it just fine.

I forgot to put in my commitment for yesterday, which was to increase my steps from the day before by at least 500. And I did that! It rained here all day and never got above the low 50s. The ballgame was postponed last night due to rain, and so we'll play our fourth game with the O's in early June. No ballgame meant more incentive to get to the mall. I sent a message to my buddy to ask about her knees, but didn't hear back, so out I went.

My commitment for today is do something different that is active. Don't know what yet, but I'll figure something out.

Sheesh, happy trails as you head out to Portland. :)

We were up very early to make a 9 a.m. planning meeting that took the entire morning. I need to work on the fact that I'm getting about 6 hours sleep. I sat down to read the Washington Post and fell fast asleep, losing part of the afternoon. So I'm just getting food logged and thinking about heading out to walk. As I posted on FB, I did my knees in during jumping jacks last night. They really talked me to coming up the stairs to my office a few minutes ago. I think I'm going to take some advil and suck it up and head to the mall. It's still raining here and 52 degrees so walking outside would not be much fun. :(

Hope you are both having a good day. Lois, I hope the pain is lessening, and Sheesh, I know you're having a ball out in Portland with the grandbabies.

My commitment today is to move. Just to move. Some days, that's it. Oh, yes. And log my food. If I don't do that at least a couple of times a day, I forget something. Which reminds me of Tim Dad's old adage to add 200 calories. Wonder what ever happened to him? When I first started using the Bodybugg message board, he and someone who went by "Papa Bear" gave some great advice.

Old habits die hard. I am still not a FB fan. My knees continued to bother me, so yesterday, I got some walking in at a fine arts fair, but I did not do my outside route or the mall. I started to go out and do a short time in the cul-de-sacs around 10 p.m. after the second ballgame of the day (we had a double-header to make up a game rained out on Friday), but I opened the door to find that a storm was brewing. The wind was so bad that a few tree limbs came down.
