Am I understanding this right?

So I wanted to see if I was getting the sodium I needed and when I went to Nutrients it showed Carbohydrates (15) which is reflected in my Macros as (15) but then it shows Sugar (6).
Shouldn't that be (21) overall? Why would it count it separately?

Wanted to add that I usually just look at my Macros and call it a day.0

The 6g of sugar will already be counted in your Carbs.
Macros are top level: protein, fat, carbs.
Nutrients are the next level.
Fats total of 56g include trans, saturated, polyunsaturated etc and the carbs total of 15g includes fiber, sugar and starches

Excellent- thanks. That's what I thought but then seeing it broken out of the calculations made me question my understanding.
I appreciate your help!!0 -
All good. I assume they do that for people who are focusing on cutting out sugars but aren't low carbing.
Edit: Googled it, probably because total carbs won't usually equal fiber + sugar
"United States Federal Law requires that companies state on the nutrition facts label the total grams of carbohydrates, dietary fiber, and sugars. This makes listing the content of complex carbohydrates as optional, which in most cases, will make up for the difference between total carbohydrate, and the sum of dietary fiber and sugars."0
