Before surgery, working out was super inconsistent for me. I knew I wanted to be more active post-surgery, so I joined Camp Gladiator (it’s a 60 minute, group, boot camp-style workout). I get my butt there 2-4 mornings a week. The group dynamic with a trainer really works for me. I like the encouragement/motivation of having accountability to other people. If I were working out on my own, I wouldn’t push as hard and I’d let myself quit early. I’m still the slowest one in my 5:30 AM group, but I’m 100% faster than I’d be if I were still snoozing in my bed. That’s me in the red shirt with the grey hat on (covering my post-surgery bald spot). I don’t think working out has much impact on my weight (that’s all about food choices for me), but I do feel myself getting stronger, gaining stamina and my cholesterol is moving in the right direction. Push-ups have been really hard for me (I’ve still got a lot of body weight to lift), but I noticed they were easier this morning.

This is after completing my first half marathon in December (I've run 6 more since then) and a random after workout picture while I was on a business trip. I mostly run but I mix in yoga, weights/kettle bells, and elliptical.
@lisidy...push ups are still super hard for me too!5 -
@Ultima_Morpha - your running inspires me. I hope to get to the point where I can run a 5k with friends for fun. Right now that goal still seems unimaginable.

@lisidy I never planned on becoming a runner. I ran cross country and track & field in high school...and hated nearly every minute of it. 25 years later I started running again and now I can't stop! You'll get there. Take it slow and easy; slow and steady doesn't win the race, but it will make sure that you finish!2

@Ultima_Morpha your arms are amazing!!! I have been working out for so many years but only the past 2 years or so have I been working with a trainer that is helping me focus on my arms too..I have the beginnings of triceps and biceps, plus my wings which are dramatically smaller!2

@jcavanna2 Thanks! I've been very fortunate with my arms. I think it is good genetics...even if I do look like a boy now!0

Fantastic! I learned from several bariatric mistakes I made on this run. Many things that I will do differently in the future. Best of luck on your marathon.2 -
Not sure if the pic will work. First time back to the gym since surgery. Felt great!
