New to Low Carb ... question about Hot Yoga

Hi everyone! I've been doing low carb for about a week. Trying to keep my carbs between 20-40. Haven't really felt the 'flu' ... but I think that's because I wasn't crazy carb heavy before. However, after hot yoga (this past week only), and even during, I feel so sick and nauseous/dizzy. I'm guessing this is related to low sodium levels or magnesium? Anyone have experience with this or have any advice?

Also, I haven't weighed in yet, but I honestly feel fatter. I'm scared to weigh. I've gained about 40 pounds in the past five years. Im so confused/perplexed about how to lose weight. For example....I'd love to be a vegetarian (ethically), but I know my body doesn't like carbs in general......so I feel as though I need meat and eggs. I don't know....I'm just venting.

It's super important to keep your sodium up higher when doing low carb because we lose so much water weight. You probably sweated out so much during hot yoga that your electrolytes plummeted. Drink some broth or some salt in flavored water and you should feel better pretty quickly. And then next time definitely plan ahead and get some extra sodium beforehand!

Would be a great idea to dose 1000mg sodium 30 minutes before your workout. That should help you feel better.
You want to get a minimum of 3000-5000mg every single day. Increasing sodium on low carb isn't optimal. It WILL make you sick if you let it get low and worse if you let it stay low. People end up hospitalized and have doctors tell them keto did it to them when it was nothing more than low sodium.
That 3000-5000 minimum I mentioned above is in addition to the pre workout dose.

Broth is great. Pickles and pickle juice if you like it. Olives...
I actually just down large salt crystals as if they were a pill myself. Throw some back and gulp down some water.
Also adding some to water you're drinking. You can't really get the salt to water concentration very high that way before it just tastes too salty to drink so I do that plus swallow salt a couple times a day.
I have a little short shot glass that I fill with salt and the goal is to make gone by the end of each day.
You don't want to do it all at once though or may discover what is called a salt flush and a great cure for constipation. ;)
Some people like to get sodium chloride tablets and just take those like a pill. That's a really easy option too. Each one is 1000mg.

Also, if you happen to take apple cider vinegar or are considering it, you can mix that with some water and add your salt to it... I've done that before too. Kind of starts to have a pickle juice thing going on..
