Calories don't add up

Curious, if it's 4 calories for every gram of carbs and protein, and 9 for every gram of fat, why doesn't the math add up on the labels of certain foods? I always check the nutrition before logging to make sure it matches the labels, but when my macros are done, my calories are off. My coffee creamer is 10 calories under what the math adds up to, and my protein powder is saying it's like 13 calories more than it adds up to. I'm a math geek (analyst for a living) and this discrepancy is driving me insane.

Food manufacturers are allowed to round the calories on the labels. They also are allowed to leave out calories from fiber. My 180 calorie cereal really has 220 based on the macros. I usually have a few rounding error calories left over. Don't let it drive you crazy, and always go by your macros.

does simply827 reply means that we should not expect MFP to calculate the calories 100% correctly? am I understanding that answer correctly?
