Checking in early today to share that I'm celebrating reaching my original goal weight today. I revised it down last month but I'm still viewing this as a significant success
Just checked and I have lost 4.8kg since joining this group in April and you have all helped me stick to this and achieve this result thanks.12 -
well done @aeshippers ... It's always lovely when we reach a goal1
-
Reminder of a POSITIVE nature....lol

Sometimes, while working on my daily post, I get confused, or forgetful, but today is a first for me. Today, two UAC members beat me to June 4. @aeshippers is celebrating her incredible achievement in reaching her goal weight! Congratulations.
But that was not my only surprise. Both Slimpossible007 and @pribud were also ahead of me in congratulating @aeshippers. Thanks so much for being so supportive of our team mate, Shippers!!
My job is getting easier everyday!
Love, Rick

Ok, I am still on yesterday with more to go, but thought I would see what was happening "tomorrow," lol. Anyway, so happy for you @aeshippers!!! What a great accomplishment.3

Thank you all for the congratulations. I'm hoping that I might make my new goal this month now although it's more likely to be July.
Wet, miserable and cold day here today so no outdoor activities. Got my exercise with a hard 30 minutes on the rowing machine this morning and a gentler 45 minutes on the exercise bike this evening. Also went clothes shopping and bought new work pants, I've been trying to hold off until I reach goal but my current ones now sit so low on hips they drag on the ground. I have dropped at least 2 dress sizes since January and 3 from where I've been most of the last few years and am now easily in an NZ 8 which is a US 4-6, never thought I'd be there.
Tracking and calories both good too.
Long weekend here in NZ for Queen's birthday. Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow so I can take advantage of the day off but not looking particularly promising.6 -

Exercised?: Yes. Walked 10.6km+ in 100 minutes (hills - 340m climb - 1000 steps route to one tree hill).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Also walked with wife and daughter 3km round a lake this afternoon (not tracked). Enjoying the good weather.
Also when finishing entry for today, first time 5 week projection has been below current MFP target (7kg or 16 lbs). However, I do not eat back exercise (750 kCal (3414 kj) today) and I was 250 kCal (1064kj) under eating budget. Consequently the 5 week projection is ridiculously optimistic. (My eating target was reset on June 1 and is conservative based on 0.5kg per week and sedentary lifestyle (desk job)).
Definitely not starving myself. Bacon and eggs breakfast, hearty soup for lunch, roast lamb + vegetables + 1/2 glass of wine + ice cream dessert for dinner. Too full to attempt to eat more. See no reason to try force myself to eat more.
5 weight goals remain:
- 0.4kg under todays weight (10kg under Jan 1 weight)
- 1.9kg under todays weight (Jan 1 weight 10 years ago)
- 2.9kg under todays weight (10kg under MFP start weight)
- 6.9kg under todays weight (MFP goal - normal BMI instead of overweight BMI)
- 11.9kg under todays weight (Optional - Weight when competitive ice skating in 1999 - Starting to believe this may actually be possible).
To establish maintainable lifestyle habits that will keep me healthy in body and mind (and at a healthy weight). This is my main goal and trumps any weight goal.

@craigo3154 ... fantastic walk .. one day I will be able to do this again .. hills are a killer for me .. even gentle slopes are a bit of a challenge
@aeshippers .. there is no nicer feeling than loose pants ... mine are just starting to slip and I keep pointing this out to my hubby lol
SO the biggest challenge I had today was working out how many calories were in my pork ribs, MFP numbers fluctuate so much on this!! I had thrown out the packaging yesterday when we put it in to marinade... and well .. there was no chance I was going to go through the bins for the details lol ... luckily Google is my friend and you can find these details online I searched "food facts tesco pork ribs" and up came the packaging .. the internet can be so useful at times
anyway that's enough of my exciting life
June 4th
Exercise Yes, walked 2.48 miles and it took 50 minutes (2 separate walks)
Calories Yes, well within them in fact I am topping them up with beer (unexpected extra mouth to feed tonight, so I had less)
Tracked Yes (even the struggle of the ribs lol)

@aeshippers wow! You're an inspiration. Thank you. And good luck to getting to your new goal.
@craigo3154 ha I too walked round a lake today with my daughter and husband. Beautiful day here. The path was sandy so I think I'll feel it in my glutes tomorrow.
@Slimpossible007 well done for finding it. Did you try putting Tesco ribs into the MFP search though? The mfp database is amazing and seems to find most UK (as well as other international) supermarket brands. In case that helps for next time.
Exercise : yes. It's ridiculous how we (or I) can get frustrated when technology lets us down. My fitbit battery is low. I went hiking with my husband and daughter and we alternated pushing her in stroller, having her on our shoulders and her walking herself. I was surprised to see a low step count when we stopped for a paddle. I was on about 6000. My husband checked his and for the same distance was at 20000 grr. My fault for not charging it last night. My daughter (16 months) also joined me for some exercises this morning. Her squat form is amazing! She puts mine to shame! She kept climbing on me as I did crunches and saying row row to try and play so with a bit of extra rowing the boat I finished my workout in the end!
Tracking yes
Calories yes

I'm just quickly checking in, I'll for sure be reading trough all new posts though tomorrow morning! Glad to see so many people checking in daily.
Exercised: Yes, as usual a lot of walking and baby carrying around
Calorie budget: Barely, but trough a lot of pre-calculating managed to stay within it. We got some sweets from a friend that was abroad and I had to check everything prior to trying it out to make sure not to go overboard. I might have looked like a lunatic but it worked and I didn't have to completely skip them so yay.
Tracking: On top of my game, I'm getting better at this. Noticed I'm also drinking a lot more water now that I'm tracking it, I've never used that function really before so it's pretty cool to see it having an effect.
Let's see what tomorrow brings. Noticed that after eating the sweets I got a headache which would explain the past few weeks of pain I was blaming my caffeine intake for. Also skipped on the beer today and I didn't miss it, we usually have a glass or two every night with dinner but we're cutting back on that and I'm feeling pretty good about it.4 -
@Slimpossible007 well done for finding it. Did you try putting Tesco ribs into the MFP search though? The mfp database is amazing and seems to find most UK (as well as other international) supermarket brands. In case that helps for next time.
@am-change ... I did yes, but even under that search there were so many different entries with totally different values I was wary about believing any of them, once I found the true value I used one of the MFP entries, I would save it as one of my own foods but I didn't enjoy them very much so I will be getting a different variety next time
your daughter sounds like a little cutie .. I saw a family near our local Loch with 4 little kids all doing stretches etc .. so cute, but nice to teach them early to look after their body
@penguinstuff ... My mum suffers from migraines and headaches when she eats certain sweets .. she says chocolate is the worst for it .. I was not as good as you with the beer, but I do work it into my calories and I have cut back .. don't check my diary lol

Hi all,
Yesterday was a holiday for me and a bank holiday weekend. I had a family event and a 4 hour road trip yesterday and back today. It's hard to count cals and get the exercise in when someone else is cooking or we stop at a roadside place for a quick bite enroute.
However, I made fairly healthy choices both yesterday and today. This is out of character, as I would use a trip/event as an excuse to splurge/binge. Yesterday, I loaded up my plate with salads rather than bread, pasta, carbs. I avoided the bun with the burger and also avoided the deserts. I had a few wines though.
Today:
Exercise; three hours trailing around a warehouse type shop. Slow walking, but a long time on my feet so I'm counting it!
Tracked; yes, but without my scales and knowing the exact recepie of what I was served there was some guess work.
Cals; I came in 100 cals under, I think and hope my guess work wasnt so far off as to put me over instead.
Its absolutely pouring rain here now, but I plan on a run/walk in the morning.4 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes a lot of walking at a friends farm and bar spent about 4 hours there helping out clean and dig so Im good and sore
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Weekly Mile Goal - 25.65 / 25 Woohoo
I did get severely sunburnt on my shoulders (Sadly allergic to sunscreen) So not sure if I can do much walking tomorrow as my they have nice blisters on them.3 -
yes, yes, yes
I guess it is not too early to declare the kitchen closed.
Rode my bike to and from the Orange Theory studio.
Got a PR on the inbound leg. Seems kind of silly as it is only 3.8 miles but as it is short and flat I really like cranking on it. It is dirt and I like the sound of my tires crunching on the crusty clay.
Orange Theory Studio is kind of cool. I wanted to tell the coach about my epic climbing exploits this past week but didn't get the chance. Then I get to thinking how utterly implausible my claim would sound. 8,500 feet of climbing over two days of the week. Pretty much has a preposterous ring to it.
But yeah Orange Theory gives you this workout report by email. It tells you their estimate of the calories you slugged out and a thing called splat points. I think you get a splat point for every minute you spend at heart rate above 85%.
I like it. I only buy four times a month though. But here is what they send you after every workout. It is a good club and they have intense workouts but nobody points and laughs at you if you take the easier options or don't do all of the counts specified for a set.
The workout is more or less divided equally between floor exercise and treadmill or spin.
Floor is like TRX, burpees, squatjacks, situps that kind of stuff. I'd be ok if it was all spin but I think I need the core and upper body work.

@pribud - Always appreciate your comments! I'll be 69 this month and am blessed with great health, and lotsa energy, so I'm up for about any type of exercise, gotta keep this body guessing what's coming next!! lol
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, 60 minute walk...basically a rest day.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes6 -
Exercised?: Yes. 25 minute walk.
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Today, is the first day that I would not have exercised had I not been doing this challenge. It had been a slow, quiet, lazy sort of day for me. When I finished my evening meal, I was thinking that I needed to go log it. That's when I remembered that I had not exercised or actually done any sort of activity today. So, I hopped up, put the leftovers in the fridge and went for my walk! I'm feeling thankful that the rain held off until about 5 minutes after I returned home.6 -
June 4: exercised, stayed within my caloric allowance and tracked my food. Been a gorgeous weekend so have ot more steps in than my typical day.4
-
Great job everyone!!! @SimonsChange try the UV wear I am photosensitive and the clothing is light weight but I wear long sleeves .
I had to eat a protein bar to get all my calories in. Exercised inside due to rain.5 -
Yes, yes, yes. Very small dinner. Aerodyne bike for 20 minutes.5
-
Hello! Strike one today, going in for the pass, but meal prepping for the week tonight so that's good!! How's everyone feeling so far?5
-
@bocasdelbobdog Thanks for posting that about Orange Theory, and congratulations on the killer burn and racking up so many points! I've heard a lot about OT and wondered if it would be something I might get involved in at some point. I think I'll work up to it; I'm not sure I could handle it yet.
@captainfantastic94 Doing well at this point, though I have to admit my legs are sore from yesterday's squats, etc. The real test will be this week--my office has a(n awesome) habit of springing for lunch, and it's hard to go with a salad or my own home-brought meal when BBQ or brunch is offered!
Exercise: Yes, a walk in the park with my dog and some jumping jacks.
Calories: Yes--though I was very hungry after dinner for some reason. Not sure what kicked my appetite into high gear, but I resisted nonetheless!
Tracked: Yes, even the little food sample at Publix.3 -
Exercised?: Yes. 60 minutes cardio/aerobic
Calories?: Yes 1217/1470
Tracked?: Yes. Getting much better at putting recipes in to ensure the proper calories and portions.3 -

@aeshippers : Reaching a goal weight is awesome ! Congratscraigo3154 wrote: »To establish maintainable lifestyle habits that will keep me healthy in body and mind (and at a healthy weight). This is my main goal and trumps any weight goal.
@GardenMama129 Same here. I would have given up today had I not been in this group. Till about 6 this evening, it didn't look like I will exercise but then suddenly I decided I won't give up today and took LO out for a walk with me and we walked for 45 minutes. It was slow but I am glad that at least did that.In fact credit goes to @RangerRickL for the "One day or Day One" quote, would't have gotten through without inspiration today. Special thanks for the quote.
One interesting event happened today. I stepped on the scale and it showed me a 3 pound loss, 2 more and that will be my goal for the month. I should have probably waited till Thursday, but it did make me happy, no harm in being cautiously optimistic I guess.
Thanks everyone for inspiring me ! And good luck for this week6 -
@bocasdelbobdog I'm always impressed with your workouts, @craigo3154 and @fightingthetideofaging are also mighty inspiring. I am happy to be 'fit for my life'. I need a reasonable measure of cardio fitness for hiking; working on the farm and energetic horseback riding. For that, I do my 2 to 3x per week Cardio/Strength/Intervals of 30-40 minutes. The other days, I am happy to walk and add some rowing; stationery biking and lots of active stretching.
One of the things that we can see within this group is that there is more than one 'right answer'. We have runners; walkers; super-athletes; and those who are just beginning to get moving again after years of sitting still.
It's so wonderful to see and hear what every body is doing and what their goals are.

My report:
Big hot day near Chicago. Too hot for recreational horseback riding. Just did over an hour of outside chores...mighty sweaty today.
Calories: under by 275
Tracking: Ok...this is the secret sauce to success.5 -
Wow!! Lots of reporting in.2
