After watching the film. Please answer the following questions.
Be sure that there are at least 3-4 sentences of information for each answer.
See you Monday
Pix
Do animals being raised for food (livestock) have the right to a certain quality of life?
Do people have the right to know what is in their food? What about a ‘secret’ recipe?
Should access to healthy food be a right for everyone? (think price control)
Should parents of morbidly obese children under a certain age face penalties?
When deciding what to eat, how much should we consider the workers who pick, process, and transport it?
Does it matter to you which food companies produce your food?
Should companies be able to own the DNA contained in plant seeds?
What individual or collective actions are you willing to take to improve our food system, and what would be their impact?

1.Yes, animals should have rights to certain qualities of life. The question is, do they? In most cases, the animals shown in food inc. are mistreated to a degree that people are harmed from it. Therefore, the right should be given. Animal abuse is real but all changes in the sense that this is food production not pets. I think it is difficult to determine what would be a good decision, and it is good to remember that although this is an important argument, it is still one sided.
2.I believe we should know what we are eating and what do they do to are food. Other people just like farmer and the main corporations such as Tyson think other wise about we the people knowing what we eat.
These companies think other wise because they don’t want us to know that they use modern science and how they treat the animals. They use modern science to grow the chickens. They make the chickens so fat to the point that they can’t even move any more. Since the chickens are so fat they lay in their feces and that’s how they get diseases. The way that they treat the cows is horrible they allow them to get diseases and then send them out for us to eat that’s just wrong. They don’t care about the animals or us they just want the money. This is why we should know what we eat. Its not a about the secrecy of a 'secret recipe' its about how the food is manufactured.
3. Each year more and more Americans are diagnosed with type two diabetes. People not having access to the foods their bodies need to survive causes this life threatening disease. Diabetes and obesity are becoming more common with children born after the year 2000. Making healthy food accessible to all Americans no matter their position in society can solve this problem. Being able to provide families with healthy food is a pressing issue in our generation. Healthy food should be accessible by all Americans because it can help prevent type two diabetes and childhood obesity.
4. Yes, if parents of a child are just going to keep feeding him or her unhealthy foods and watch their son/daughter become morbidly obese, and not do a single thing to help prevent gaining weight then yes it is the parents are at fault for only buying crappy unhealthy foods while not having any healthy selections available for themselves or their children then yes, charge the parents or get that family some help with a dietary doctor.
5. We want to pay the cheapest price for our food. We don’t understand that it comes at a price. The evidence that I saw in the video was that the workers are treated just as bad, if not worse than the animals. The cheapest form of labor is hiring illegal immigrants from Mexico. The slaughterhouses are often raided by police and dozens of illegals are detained. So what do the meatpacking companies do? Hire more illegal immigrants. This has no effect on the slaughterhouses, because they never have to pay more wages, and there is no shortage of illegal aliens looking for work. It is cheap and it works, but it’s not so good from an ethical standpoint.
6.Yes, I think it does matter which company produces my food, because it can contain any possible poisons or contaminants that may make people vulnerable to infections or diseases, That's why I agree to add labels to the product explaining if its Organic, low fat, zero trans fat or anything else and has allergy notices to labels, what it contains and who the company that made the product, on what day & time the product was made and shipped and whatever day and time the product expires as well as the location where the product was made.
7. Saving farmers time in producing soybeans has both positive and negative effects. On the upside, farmers using Monsanto soybeans are likely to produce soybeans faster, causing them to need seed more frequently. This means more money for Monsanto. However, if seeds are saved by these same farmers, they will not need to purchase as many as often because they have a store of the seeds. If every farmer saved seeds, eventually he would get more and more saved per harvest, and that could mean a MAJOR loss of money for the Monsanto Company. Another negative effect is that when wind blows on a farm, pollen from that farm’s plants can go into their neighbors crops. If the pollen of the Roundup Ready Soybeans is blown into someone else's farm, they are basically getting these soybeans for free. This means more money lost for Monsanto.

1. Animals being raised from Live Stock should have the RIGHT to quality of life but they don't. Often live stock are treated not like beings and are slayed and slaughtered with 0 remorse and are looked at as dead even when they are still alive.
2. People have the right to know what is in their food, even though restaurant's choose not to tell you. A lot of restaurants have a 'secret recipe"
3.
Access to healthy food should be right for everyone. It is wrong that the price for something so unhealthy and bad for you for example chips, are cheaper than buying apples. It should be the other way around when the things that grow naturally should be the lowest place.
4. If a parent does nothing but feed their child unhealthy foods, and cause them to be morbidly obese it is their fault and should have consequences. It is child abuse to do this to the child because later on when they have health issues it is your fault in the long run because the child does not know any better.
5. Even though we want to pay the littlest possible amount for food, we have to come to the conclusion that if we want quality food, that we have to pay the right price for it. I work at Farm Boy and everything there is pretty pricy but you are paying for top quality food that has no artificial preservatives and crap. It sucks because if you can not afford to pay for high quality food you may be forced to buy crappy cheap food.
6. It matters to me what food companies produce my food because some companies are more sketchy than others and aren't so clean and organized with their distribution. Also some companies lie about their food even if it is unsafe to eat or recalled they will still distribute it. I want someone I can trust to distribute my food, someone who actually cares If people are getting sick or not.

1. I believe livestock do have a certain quality of life, animals being raised for livestock are treated very poorly and are often crammed together so they have no room to eat or move.
2. I think people absolutely have the right to know whats in their food, even though thats not the case sometimes. Genetically modified organisms and other chemicals are often put in our food without our knowledge.
3. I think everyone has a right to have access to healthy food.Farm Fresh organic foods are cost prohibited to poor people. I believe the government should subsidize healthy foods for everyone. Its sad that you can buy a case of Coke for cheaper than a bag of milk.
4. I dont think they should nessicarily face penalties, but they should be required to take health and physical fitness eduacation.
5. It should be considered but cheaper produce comes from farms known to pay low wages.
6. Most definitely because its important to take into consideration of how major companies grow food and treat their workers.
7. I would say no because its natural evolution of seeds and pollination. Its not natural to own a living organism.
8. I will do my best to buy local and organic and grow my own food. Not only are the health benefits better, but the nutrients are better and its self sufficient and sustainable.0
