Eating Whole Foods When Time Is an Issue

Hey everyone! Does anybody have some tried-and-true tips for staying away from processed foods on busy days? For example, we prep what we can on Sunday for our weeknight dinners. Overall, this has really helped us eat much more healthy, whole food. However, I often find myself snacking on less healthy options between meals if I'm pressed for time.

    We've been prepping snack bags and small 1/4-1/2 cup plastic containers with different snacks so we have a variety and they are easy to pack-n-go. We have used veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds and dried fruits/veggies. We keep dried apricots and figs around for something sweet. It's helped us stay on track about 90% of the time. We also prep a bunch of frozen meals so, it's easy to grab a meal and a snack on the way out the door when I am running late. We just started packing snack bags of frozen fruit and veggie combos, so we can throw them in the bullet with a cup of cashew milk and whip up a smoothie quickly. It took a while for us to make the time, but now it's a habit so it's part of our routine.

    @dangetshealthy1 I cant really add to the above great advice on snacks and food. But, dont be afraid to be hungry in between meals, or even to skip a meal. Modern society instills a fear of hunger, but its just a feeling like heat, cold, sleepiness. Yes, all these feelings have to be addressed before they become critical. However, a few hours of hunger wont put you into a critical zone, and may actually improve your apetite hormones.

    There is evidence to show that intermittent fasting is good for the body in many ways other than simply weight loss. I found my brain way more alert and I was more productive.

    That said, I do advise caution. I was fasting fairly regularly, but I found that I just binged more when it was time to eat! Fasting works well if you can eat a normal healthy meal with regular portions when you break the fast.

    I would suggest meal prepping all of your meals. If you prep then you won't have an excuse to eat anything processed :)

    I've been intermittent fasting for about a week now. It's very doable for me and has been working VERY well.
