Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?

When I chose this graphic, I decided to dedicate it to @2020pinktogo She is my inspiration for asserting her boundaries in and out of the work environment. Thanks, Sue!!

Back on the bike today, Yay
Might be the only time this week though although I have a late start tomorrow so although I need to drive I might get a ride in first.
Didn't do any other exercise though just my rides to and from work but adds up to almost 70 minutes so still pretty good.
Calories and tracking were good too. Actually ended up eating quite a lot of my calories this evening as I was so busy at work today I didn't eat everything I planned.7 -

Exercised?: Yes. Walked 5 Km in 41 mins - twice - so 10km in 82 mins (hills).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Rain held off and I rushed the first walk before work cutting it short (finishing 3 mins before a work phone conference ). Was feeling go, so did a second round lunch time. Both were just a shade over 40 mins for a trip I usually do in 44 mins. WooHoo.
Noticed from my logs I have been pushing harder than normal the last few days (not intentionally, just kind of happened). Will try do a "rest" day tomorrow. 20 min easier walk mapped out and will swap the strength training for stretching also try get an earlier night (I cannot bring myself yet to intentionally pass). Not injured, but body needs time to recover (to prevent injuries ).
After the discussion yesterday about owls and larks, I can be either, but a lark by preference. Really late nights (2am+) knock me around a bit, but early mornings I find easier.
@trixsey1. Great deer. There are deer in the forest I walk in, but I seldom see them. I think it was last month I posted the picture of one of the wallabies that is a regular on my forest walks.
@srufus. Love the quote. I also have no intention of finding again the weight that has gone.
@conchita962. Look after your back. They are one of the most troubling parts of the body to fix.
@phoebelayla. Stay with us (even though you have too many passes for circle this month). Keep tracking, running and grinning.
@aeshippers. Great you could ride again.7 -
Already having a better day. Off for a walk with my husband.7

July 18th
Exercised?: Yes.
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
40min jog, 30min cross trainer and 60min of strength training with weights.
Also walked the woofies (70mins).
We went a different way today, saw some baby ducks and coots. Dogs had a swim in the lake to cool themselves down as it's 28 degrees here. An easy walk but it was nice, just too hot for the dogs to go far.
Some idiot was setting fireworks off here at 2am and went on for ages and I just couldn't get back to sleep. It's supposed to be illegal here to set them off after 10pm, but it doesn't stop some folk. So running on fumes today, lol.
Tomorrow is my rest day, so just a walk into town then I'll take the dogs out for a hour or so.7 -
Well today is a day to practise what I preach...lol.....Did not have a good day yesterday food wise, but the good thing is that it is now in the past, time to let it go! Today is a new day and I have done so much positive self talk that I truly BELIEVE that today will be a good day! Woohoo.
Yesterday was my sons 38th birthday....lol....Nothing like your second born approaching 40 to make me feel old............lol........My children are now 42,38, and 34.........WOW! Time flies. I would like to share with you the poem I wrote him. It was written as I was reminiscing last night on a whim so not perfect by any means as I did it in less than an hour.
On July 17th, 1979 my wonderful son was born to me.
Our life together did start right then,
As the words “It’s a Boy” did echo with-in
10 little fingers, 10 little toes.
I counted them all just to be sure
An instant love filled me inside.
My perfect little son, I showed off with pride.
We named you Timothy as we welcomed you home.
I watched you grow, while guiding your way.
Lots of adventures from childhood to man.
My memory at times does tend to wander,
Remembering events we shared through the years.
There were times of smiles, laughter and yes, even tears.
I look at you today at the Man you have become.
A husband, a dad yet always a son.
Your mother I am, and to me you will always be,
My baby I cuddled as you smiled at me.
I love you Tim….xox
Hope you enjoyed reading it.
I don`t know what happened to the rest of my post as I had little kudo`s to a lot of you and they just disappeared.....don`t have time right now to redo. Just know that I am cheering for all of you and I think we are all AWESOME8 -
I am checking in frequently today because I need to get back on track. One hour moderate pace walk and then worked on spreading topsoil for our new sod. Yay!!8
-
July 18th was a nope. Started well at the gym, but after a hellish afternoon there was wine... and cheese.
That's my third pass day. I can still do this.5 -
beautiful words @pribud and happy birthday to your son
@colwellcat wine and cheese a good but dangerous combo
@dosse1320 spreading topsoil, a work out in itself,
for me today 3 yesses .. I almost just let one rest day slip into another, but my hubby said "do you fancy a walk to the shop" and it got me up, my hubby never suggests walking .. the catch was he wanted wine and intended to walk it off first lol ...
tracked yes
calories yes
exercise just under 1 hour :- a walk, a bike and a new/strange sword workout . some fun movements My boy has two swords in his room (they are blunted/fake) I will do it with one of those next time .. this time I done it with a pole which was over 3lb in weight. I might even invite him for a duel

Exercised, Calories, Tracked: Yes!!5 -
July 18:
Exercise?: Yes, 35 minute run this morning, but my leg's told me to take it slower than usual.
Plank?: Yes.
Calories?: Yes, with 221 to spare.
Tracked?: Yes. All 7 gummy bears in the mid-morning and the handful of dried apricots for dinner, which ended up being many more calories than I expected (so it's a good thing I was good during the day!)5 -
Exercise? Yes; an hour of strength training and a 1.25 mile run
Calories? Yes
Tracking? Yes4 -
Sorry to be MIA!
June 16: No, did not stay under calories. That was Pass #3.
June 17: Alas, also did not stay under calories. It could have been worse, but it wasn't pretty. So I'm out of the running for July, but I've learned a lot about myself in this process and I'll continue tracking through the rest of the month.
June 18:
Exercise: Yes, doubled up to make up for yesterday's failure.
Calories: Yes.
Tracked: Yes.
I've been very distracted the last couple of days. Lots of family stress involved, but I credit boredom with the overeating on Sunday and Monday. I just have to stay busy and out of the kitchen, haha!4 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? 120minutes of walking got 8.2miles in today was a pretty smooth day
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes

Exercise: Was planning a run..needed a run but my back is NOT 100%. Very frustrating. Did get in a 28 min walk with the dog and a short yoga stretching session.
Calories: right where i need to be
Tracked: yes
30 day yoga: did not do regular yoga due to painful back. Will make it tho!
Lesson Learned: I cannot get too bummed out when I can't get outside and do what I want....well I can get bummed for only for a very short time!
@craigo3154 I am definitely taking care of the back best I can. I have a big problem with glutes not firing when running/walking so my back takes the load and the tension is very painful allllll across my lower back. It doesn't help that I have a sit down job and my"area" is not posture friendly and causes issues as well. I sit in a higher chair but cannot roll underneath the counter I work at so after 7 1/2 years my back doesn't like that forward lean! I try and stand a lot. Anyhoooooo....I will stretch some more and. Hope I can go to strength training tomorrow!!!!

3 yeses. Tomorrow I weigh, and I'm expecting a positive outcome...I know I'm moving in the right direction. I can feel everyday how much stronger I'm becoming!
@RangerRickL I love this quote.
@pribud You really did a fine job on the poem. High marks!!
Have a great day tomorrow all.4 -
Yes... Zumba! And I tracked and stayed under my calories. Trying for a fresh start since I have not been tracking on mfp for months now and it shows...3

July 18.
Good day. Started with my 3.5 mile walk. I am an early riser and exerciser. Tracked and stayed under calories. I love fruits and vegetables. Hit the farm market on my lunch hour for blueberries, peaches, tomatoes, cucs, cauliflower, beans and corn. I know the LCHF people are cringing but these are my summer time treats!!!3 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yep...60 minutes strength training.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yep

@conchita962. Another common issue with a "sitting" job is that the quads and hip flexors tighten. This can contribute to glutes not firing properly as you cannot make full stride without pulling on the back.
I found I had this problem a couple months ago, so added quad stretch to the daily routine and within weeks the problems with both walking and lunges went away entirely.
This is the stretch I do, but I put a bath towel under the back knee for cushioning (folded 12 times - 1/2 width ways, 1/2 length ways, then trifold (concertina style) length ways). I do not recommend doing this stretch without cushioning as it can be very hard on the back knee. It is also requires a bit of balance, so having a wall or door frame nearby is recommended.
To really stretch this, you feel as if you are trying to push your hip towards the floor.
The first few times you try it, it will feel VERY uncomfortable and very unbalanced. Be warned. It is a MUCH better stretch though than the normal runners quad stretch (less stress pulling the the knee joint apart and better extends the hip flexor).
You may even want to look into PNF stretching to try increase range of motion quicker but safely.
I have had back issues in the past (protruding disc). I used to need a solid back brace to do lifting work. Back issues can be very debilitating and need extra special care.

@120maggie I love those summer time foods. I had to look up LCHF, which I believe means, Low Carb, High Fat. When I think about low carb, it's reducing the bad carbs of junk food and high glycemic white stuff. A diet with the natural wonders of blueberries; peaches, tomatoes, cucumbers, cauliflower, beans and corn (well, corn is probably a high carb high glycemic index food), but other than corn...those other summer foods are MARVELOUS!!

Rest day so I took it easy. A little over an hour of walking.0 -
A really good day. 21,262 steps( 2 walks, spreading topsoil for an hour, and cleaning our backyard pool and deck for tomorrow's afternoon fun with our grandkids). Tracked and within calorie limit.
I am making progress!! Back on track already and feeling good. Before I joined this group, once I was off track it took me days, weeks or even months to get back on program. I am very proud that it only took me a day to get going again. Thank-you my UAC teammates for your support and for being my accountability group. Can't wait for tomorrow.3 -
RangerRickL wrote: »... corn (well, corn is probably a high carb high glycemic index food), ...
@RangerRickL. & @120maggie. Depends how the corn is processed.
Corn on the cob has a GI of 48 (out of 100) and 14g of carbs per 60g.
Cornflakes has a GI of 81 and 20g per 30g.
Corn chips, plain, salted has a GI of 42 and 11g per 50g
If the processing strips the fibre (like cornflakes - milling, concentrating), then the GI goes up.
If the processing mixes in other things that slows absorption (mashing, baking and adding salt), then the GI goes down.
Source: health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/glycemic-index-and-glycemic-load-for-100-foods
If excess of carbohydrate is the "poison" creating the "type 2 diabetes" epidemic, then "fibre" is the antidote. As long as you take the antidote WITH the poison, all is good.
Taking the antidote without the poison (ie fibre without carbohydrate, or at different time to the carbohydrate) seems to have little benefit.
Carbohydrates and sugars are not bad. In fact they are great energy sources. However in excess AND stripped of fibre they cause problems.
Nature does not produce carbohydrates without fibre. This is why the recommendations of "whole" foods.
Turning a grain into flour strips the husk (fibre) and concentrates the sugars (carbohydrates). Great for storage and mass production, fine in moderation (with other whole foods and proteins), bad in that on it's own does not trigger satiety (easy to over-eat).
As a side note, powdered corn cobs are an environmentally-friendly rodent control mechanism. They absorb so much water that they can kill rodents through acute dehydration.

Walked dog, ran around working. I tracked calories, was just under the wire. I have a hard time tracking on work days, but I'm still doing it. I plan to stick with it till the end of the month.
I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, since I'm finding it so onerous.0 -

@Dosse1320 - WTG! You checked in extra and got right back on track. Hooray!
Ok, @slimpossible007 - mastering Katana will get you one step closer to your super secret spy identity.
@conchita962- I am strongly in favor of standing up for yourself and getting good ergonomics in your office environment. Everything adds up over time and you shouldn't have to deal with something that is ultimately causing you harm. I don't know if you work somewhere big enough to have an ergo department, but there are a lot of on-line resources about office ergo/ergonomics that you can check out. I am a fan of a stand-up desk. (hence the pun at the beginning about "standing up" for yourself).
@colwellcat and @lightningbolt9 - I am right there with you on already having used up pass days. We can still make it the rest of the month though, right??? Let's do this!
Yes x 3. Hiked the foothills with some out of town guests, then lifted weights this evening.3
