Had sleeve surgery in 2015. Gained most of it back:( I can tell you with all certainty that my biggest mistake was starting to introduce carbs again. I went to a “Bariatric Center of Excellence”, but their nutritionalist was somewhat cavalier about the reintroduction of carbs at six months (which just happened to be around Thanksgiving for me). I went through many required and non-required mental health group sessions about eating before and after and did great until I stuck a bite of mashed potatoes in my mouth and ate a roll! While I certainly didn’t give up, it seemed to go slowly downhill from there.
There are times I’ve been able to get back on the horse, but it didn’t seem to work as well. I’m trying again very strictly using the post-op meal plan starting today (not doing the liquid cleanse first). So we’ll see what happens.
At the end of year one I also had to have my gallbladder out (pretty normal) and now I have copious amounts of bile draining into my stomach. It’s caused bile reflux and I’ve been told esophageal or stomach cancer so they’ve mentioned doing a bariatric revision to a bypass or duodenal Y to route the bile to my lower intestines/colon. Insurance won’t cover it at the moment so in a holding pattern.
But as far as eating and losing weight again, I’m around 240 lbs. Planning on doing 3 Premier Protein shakes a day (every 4 hours starting at breakfast-8a), then snack, lunch, dinner, snack every 2 hours in between ending at 8p. Also remembering to get at least 64oz of alkaline water drank per day (all I drink anymore). When this was my eating plan, I was always surprised how full I was and my calories were around 800, fat 40g, carbs 20+ so way less than planned. I was at 170 in 3 mos. That’s where I plateaued. Should have added exercise at that point to continue to lose!0
