Irma - OT?

I've been thinking about this the last several days. Was glad for your posts @88olds and even gladder to hear you were out of harm's way! @oysterboy , how did you fare?

For me, Irma would not then or now be OT. I am a stress eater and certainly pre-WW, the anxiety and uncertainty (not to mention sheer magnitude of that impending storm) would have triggered me to eat a lot, and often!

Even now, I still stress-eat. It's like it's in my blood or something. The difference is if I'm mindful, I choose foods that aren't going to make me fat--fruits, veggies and lean proteins. I don't know that I'll ever lose the "crutch" of leaning on food in times of stress. I don't think I necessarily need to. Eating in those situations still serves some function for me though I'm a little at a loss to explain it. Keeping that while making much better choices of what to eat allows me to navigate my usual patterns without regretting it later.

Again, so glad to hear you're OK George! In my opinion, a big stresser like a major hurricane is in now way OT. It's about as on-topic as anything I can imagine!

How about the rest of you?

We got through storm OK, thanks. Don't have power and that's going to be a drag when it starts to get hot this afternoon. Spotty power outages in Gainesville area but otherwise we got through storm better than most. I estimate 10-12" of rain, cloud cover lasted from Sat afternoon until Monday evening, this was a monster storm!

Thanks for thinking of me Kim.

We've put 5600 miles on the CRV in 34 days. Plus Chi/DC round trip flights & a few rental car miles. We were back in Key West 3 days before we had to evacuate. Think I posted that i ended the pre evacuation trip with a loss. But that was then...

Thanks to our friends, we are now living comfortably in their Nashville pool house. Which is generously packed with snacks, both helpful (fruit) and not so (crackers). Yesterday I got in the snack crackers. Can't recall my last cracker.
Driving up here I had a milkshake at McDs. Can't recall my last milkshake.

The milkshake was a flat out "you poor baby" move. Wasn't "You deserve a break today" a McD ad? Man, there's a thought. Flat out appeal to emotional eating. Never noticed that one.

Anyway, I got out of the crackers and found an apple. At bedtime I started wondering when I might meet up with a scale again. The it occurred to me- I can find a WW meeting and weigh in.

    Just rambling on now. Stopping.

Glad you're both in good shape @88olds and @oysterboy ! The power outage would be tough but I guess it's all relative and this one leaves no shortage of options to compare. I wish you speedy recovery. George, I'm sure you'll take care of any extra weight in short order!

Oysterboy, glad to hear you're safe. Hope power is restored soon.

George - love your meeting idea. I think you've said you go to one every week, so it's probably good to keep your routine right now.

@88olds At my WW meeting our Leader. Recognizes out of town visitors and gives them a charm. You would receive a lot of support and it may boost your morale.
When your life gets back to normal you can look back and say "Look what I did!"
