Everyone says it, but just how do you do it? How do you take the guidelines of the WW program and turn them into a lifestyle you can live every day...from now on? That is what we are here to explore. Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Newbie? Join in! Veteran? Join in! Your thoughts may be just what someone else needs to hear.

Friday -- Al_Howard GUESS I'LL DO TODAY, BUT NEED COVEAGE THE 29TH. THANKS
Today's topic: It's The Little Things.
Weight loss is a lot of little things. What's a little thing you've done, or a small/modest change you've made that's paid a big return? Anything. More than one if you want.

Shrug my shoulders at the WTH moments and get back to it.0

I use to eat snacks at a movie, not any more- use to eat all kinds of things at a ball game no more. Sure I have a hot dog and a beer but that's all and I am happy.0

I have a mean sweet tooth and learning to cut back helps me maintain.
Yes it takes time, but your palate will change.0

Trying a cup of hot tea first whenever I am hungry at an odd time.

Yesterday, I had carrot sticks as a football game snack food. Actually, they weren't bad.0

Trimmed back the portion size of the chips I have with my near daily sandwich. Also trimmed back the portion size of the brown rice that I have with the remainder of the omelette that I make every morning. Seems to have helped to bring my average daily weight down by 2-3 pounds since May. And it didn't make me feel deprived.1

            These are small changes
(I'm not sure about "big" results?)
 No artificial sweeteners
 Very few diet sodas (rarely)
One measured Tblsp of SF creamer
Cut out SF candy and Fiber One cookies

Soda pop. I rarely touch the stuff anymore.0

Dressing on the side. So many restaraunts hear it so much, it's the only way they do it.0

Putting all snacks into a separate container before I eat them.
Try to enjoy the quality of the food rather than just to eat as much as I can.
Snacks can be my enemy if I am not very mindful of how much I eat with them.. I can undo a great day, eating wise, by grabbing a bag of chips and sitting in front of the TV - before I even think about what I am doing, the bag is empty and it's 3 hours past bed time.
Now.. regardless of the snack (from carrots to chips to whatever) - I re-portion it into a bowl or plate or whatever, so I am careful to get a PORTION of food, and not 15 portions.
When I sit to eat something, I am careful to observe how much of what I am going to eat, and try to slow down... really taste the food. Savor the moment. Pay attention to how good it is and the thought and effort that went into making it... and in doing so, it reminds me to pay attention to how full I am, so I don't just quickly try to see how much I can cram into my stomach before I feel like a beached whale.1

-Fat Free Half & Half. Who woulda thunk it?
-Spray olive oil in a Misto instead of butter / margarine.0

Cut bak on sweets. Portion sizes cut back most of the time. Less food with sugar and almost no processed foods.0

            * Just being more aware of my intake and knowing when to say when!0
