Hello, I have been researching the Keto diet and I want to try it but feel very intimated. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions. I'm not much of a meat eater and need some food ideas. A friend of mine is doing the diet and eats spoonfuls of mayo, I don't think I can do that.

Go low carb then go Keto. Check out the tread show us what your Keto meals really look like (currently on page 2, my phone won't let me post the link) and finally read the launch pad, so much good info there. A must to read for anyone starting.
Welcome and good luck!1 -
Spoonfuls of Mayo or any fat for that matter is absolutely unnecessary. Eating straight fat is a huge misconception about keto.
Just eat a meat and whatever veg you like at each meal. Try to eliminate all snacking.
You do not need any more fat than what’s in the meat or what you use to cook with.
Fatty coffees, spoonfuls of mayo or coconut oil isn’t what keto is. Some people do that. It’s a terrible idea if bodyfat loss and total health is your goal. You’d be much better off eating more nutrient dense foods that naturally contain fat.
Stuff like that is what turns a lot of people off of trying keto or makes it seem weird. Because it is weird to eat straight mayo!
Our grandparents weren’t in the kitchen eating straight fat.3 -
Please do not eat entire spoonfuls of mayo, or butter, or any kind of fat... I agree with Sunny_Bunny_ that is not what keto is. I do enjoy butter and MCT oil in my morning coffee, but I use that as my breakfast most of the time. Avocado, nuts, heavy cream, eggs, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, are just a few of the wonderful foods you can enjoy when going low carb/keto. I am a huge meat eater so I may not be much help when attempting low carb/keto in a more vegan fashion, but if you like seafood: salmon, white fish, prawns, shrimp, oysters, clams, crab are all great. I hope I've helped a little, and I am always open to new friends. Send me a request. And like another poster stated, check out the launch pad, tons of great info there. xoxo trish2
