So I'm back on phase 1 of the South Beach plan but leaning towards fewer carbs. Dr. Agaston recomneds drinking v-8 during phase 1. I just noticed it has 14g of carbs.

Anyone else drink v-8?

    Wow! :scream:

Only on days I also drink Drano and/or lighter fluid and don't check my blood sugar.

    So... not very often. ;)

I wouldn't drink it. If you want more vegetables in your diet, eat them. A heavily salted and processed drink isn't what I would turn to.

My partner drinks it. For me it's too many carbs to feel worthwhile. I do love veggies and can have my fill twice over for less than 1 serving of V8. But if you love it, you'll find a way to fit it in :)

Yep, that's the only way I drink V8. I don't do either when in active loss phase, but enjoy a bit mixed together once in a while when I'm in maintenance. Actually Extra Spicy Clamato is even better, although there's 15 g carbs in one cup.

I'm in the camp of "If you like it, let it fit". If V-8 is something you enjoy and it will help keep you on track long term, go for it. It wouldn't be my 1st choice or even 5th but there are many choices I find less favorable than V-8 that I see posted every day. Some of those might even be in my food diary. :o

Personally, I would squeeze the V8 out of the Bloody Mary and replace with more booze...

Take a ripe tomato, puree it in the blender along with a couple of jalapeno slices. Add some celery salt and vodka. Nice with brunch. Oh dress it with a celery stalk and a slice of cooked bacon. No need for V8.
