@meghan509 the pants size is awesome!!!! Even though I’m seeing some success on the scale, it isn’t translating to pants size . So I’m envious!
I started this journey at 195 lb squeezing into my size 14’s. I’m now in 12’s but with no room to spare. Well, not quite. I have an incredible shrinking waist. Seriously. It is currently 13 inches smaller than my hips. So, yeah, pants don’t (and never have) fit me off the rack. So - plenty of room for my husband’s two fists ( no joke) AND my waist in the waistband of the size 12 pants, but just barely can get them on my hips and thighs.
HIIT - there is a short utube segment of a bbc thing dr. Mosley did on exercise- but here’s the skinny. Get on the exercise bike or treadmill or something. Warm up for a couple of minutes then turn the resistance or incline as high as you can (without needing to come to a complete stop) and go as fast as you can for 20 seconds. Then back to warmup speed/resistance. A couple of minutes later do it again. A couple more minutes do it a third time. Research says it might activate the mitochondria in your cells. Research says that it turns on the fat burning process for a longer period of time then other cardio. Research says unlike other cardio it does not create free radicals. Research says…
Well, I don’t really understand the research. But people I respect tell me it will be good for me, it will be good for my weight loss, and it doesn’t take that much time to do. So I’m giving it a go.
Strength-training I hate to admit this, but I’m really kind of a do as I say not as I do type of person on this topic. Unfortunately my disabilities make it impossible for me to do any whole body workout stuff at this time. (I have seriously messed up my knee just by trying to do a squat (bodyweight only).) We do not currently have the money to pay for a physical trainer for me, but I’m hoping we can save up some to get a couple sessions in the new year. If I had an attentive trainer teaching me how to use the machines, I might be able to do bigger body exercises. Until that time, I am doing what I can as carefully as I can. Luckily I love swimming (and can do it safely) - which in itself is a bit of resistance exercise- at least enough to keep my current muscles active if not a muscle growth exercise.
I’m not working today, You may have noticed, and I’ve had time to just futzs around online. But I have a couple of unpainted dressers to stain, and some pea soup to see to on my stove. So I’m going to get going now. Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

@ryenday - Got a chance to see the Michael Mosley video you posted last week. Loved it. So true about sugar and it's awful effect on the body. I think it is the underlying cause of a lot of disease. Made me think about moving toward the Mediterranean diet. Not a big fish fan but maybe I can have some Mediterranean days during the week?1

Hi all!
Hope you are having a good Saturday! Thanks again for yesterday. This weekly thread is a keeper for sure!
We are taking a day off from the gym today. Typically we do go on Saturday but we are going to go see my guy's parents today and some friends after and want to get an early start.
I will have to check out that Mosely video too! If you guys do Netfix he has a little PBS documentary where he and another guy are discussing the science of food. Very cool. I can look up the name if anybody is interested.
See you all soon!2 -
Good news: I will have two fast days in the bag right off the bat this week.
Bad news: I have the stomach bug that is going around. Kids literally made me sick.0 -

@KateNkognito - it's that time of the year when our kids find it so much easier to make us sick. Hope your recovery is quick. Have plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Looking forward to your speedy return.1

I also own a Golden so I love your avatar
@mamainthekitchen Baxter looks like a Golden in pictures sometimes, but he's actually some sort of spaniel mix. We think maybe spaniel-setter. He's roughly 40 lbs but leggy, so he looks like a retriever-sized dog in pictures. I love Goldens, though, and have always wanted one. We have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and Cavs and Goldens supposedly do well together, so I have told my husband that at some point I would like that combination in our house. Probably fewer dogs, too, as six is a little much!
Nothing else to add at this point, so I'll wait for this week's post to talk about 5:2 stuff
