As you know, the UAC is a non-commercial volunteer outfit.
This is my personal testimony about the Wheat Belly (nice way to say "Beer Belly") book.
4 years ago, my wellness doctor asked me to read the Wheat Belly book. I do not have celiac disease. What I had asked my doctor was how could I being getting bigger around the belly when my caloric intake was below my maintenance calories. His answer was 'read the book." I did and I learned the author, a cardiologist from near Chicago's thesis that modern genetically modified wheat creates inflammation in the body.
I decided to try to be gluten free. It took me about 2 months to develop the habit and have alternative foods.
Once I made the switch, my gut size shrank. In addition, I had a very unexpected positive side effect. My breathing volumes began to climb. I have mild intermittent bronchial asthma. I use a peak flow meter to measure my breathing volume every morning. Since I became 'mostly' gluten free, my peak volumes are dramatically higher than when I habitually consumed wheat products.
Just my experience, your mileage may vary.
Rick

Afternoon all, from a very cold and wet Midlands here in the UK.
Hope you all have a good day today.
@dejavuohlala - Thanks for the suggestion, I will look for them and give them a try.
@BadgerLamb236 - Thanks sweetie. She's hurt her paw and is on antibiotics and anti-inflammation meds. She needs to rest up for a few days but the vet said she'll be able to go for her walks again, once she can put her full weight on it without limping.
Sorry to hear about your loss hun, both your doggie and the puddy-cat, but I'm sure your new puppy will bring you many years of joy and help fill that void of emptiness they leave us with when they are gone. Hugs...xx
@fightingthetideofaging - It sure does doesn't it. I really hate the winter months, I just lose all motivation and the days are so cold and dark it's almost depressing, lol. Roll on Spring!
@glimjy - Lol, yes those days sure test us don't they! Well done on balancing out the calories for those "unplanned" meals, great idea.
@RangerrickL - Bread is a big problem for me. I eat a lot of bread - brown bread - but it still bloats me up a little, but it's just so handy and easier to just to grab a sandwich most days than to cook, especially if there's just me at home. I didn't think of trying gluten free, so that's two things for me to try today. Thank you.
@everyone - Great job everyone, keep it going. You're all fantastic...x2 -

Exercised?: Yes. Walked 6.4 Km in 45 mins (mostly level).
Calories?: Yes.

Early walk (in different city). Short entry today as it is late (and only juct got home).
High protein day today (even though travelling). No protein bars needed today .
Almost certain now to be in the UK from November 20 to November 24.
@RangerrickL - 100% agree about wheat (and wheat belly). Some can tolerate it, however, from what I have seen, these are in the minority.
Even if you do not have celiac disease, the manipulation and processing of modern wheat does seem to have an impact on the "average" digestive system and metabolism.
Bread/flour is quick/cheap (heavily subsidised) calories that normally have a long shelf life. However the wheat grown now is only a distant relative to the wild wheat from which is was originally derived (through genetic modification and selective growing practices). Modern wheat is very high wheatgerm yield per acre with minimal husk/chaff production.

Exercise - Yes. 40 mins walking into village (inc. hills). Very nice friend gave us a lift home (backpacks full of shopping) or would have been over 1hr walking - fine for me but my partner struggles a bit with the gradients. We live under a kilometre from the ville, but there is a valley in between, quite steep (1st gear in car) so it seems a lot further!
Calories - Yes, well under today

Work has just taken over this week. I'm exhausted!!!
My daughter(oldest of 4) has celiac disease...has for about 10 years now. It helped me kick the whole family into a more healthy whole food way of eating...always said it was a bit of a blessing in disguise. We don't really eat any breads. Pasta once a week...hers is rice pasta...more fruit...more veggie.
Until last year all was great...my 2 oldest got jobs and started university...started eating out A LOT and have probably gained about 50 lbs each...doesn't seem to matter what i say about it....
Wow did I go off topic...guess i needed to vent...sorry4 -

Hey, I went gluten free several years ago because I finally found a doctor who figured out that my long-term chronic G.I. symptoms were directly related to all the wheat in my life. I was so tired of years of pain, nausea, bloating and other fun TMI stuff, so finally finding the answer was such a relief. Life-changing! I'm not even tempted to eat gluten. Not worth the agony! Glad it's worked out well for you, too, @RangerRickL !
Exercise - 30 minutes walking the dog, 30 minutes gardening.
Calories - Yes, within goal.

Seems like a lot of us walked on this chilly day. We had gorgeous sunshine so I got out at lunch. Stayed under calories and tracked all.
@fourathomej I can relate. I never wanted my girls to have a weight problem and go through what I always struggled with. My one daughter gained significant weight in college and I really took it as if it was my fault. Why? I have no idea. It became a barrier between us. Things are better now.4 -
Exercise: yes, video workout
Calories: NO! Last minute decision to take my niece out for a margarita, chips, and queso. If I would have known our plan earlier I would have not eaten an afternoon snack. But damn it was worth it! Then candy at the movie. That I probably could have done without but I felt that if I was gonna use a pass it should be worth it.3 -

Anyone else ever feel like they NEVER stop moving?

Exercise - Yes. My kids were off school so I ran the daily errands with 3 littles. Spent the day pushing 125 extra pounds around in shopping carts and carrying a 40 lb child in one arm and a 20 lb baby in the other when there weren't carts. Logged 8000 steps while doing it, so I think that counts even though we didn't get a proper walk in today.
Calories- Yes. I think I worked off all but a few hundred of them though, lol.
Tracked- yes
Nov. 8
Exercise- Yes. Got our walk in, 40 minutes worth. Logged 7200 steps throughout the day.
