Any other late or overnight shifters?

I usually work a 6pm-6am shift, my shifts can drag by generally due to lack of contact with others. I used to eat a lot to break the monotony, and only eating once a day it seems to make the shifts drag. I find it really amazing how much I used food, and am glad even if it feels like my shifts are longer.
Anyone else have any problems, or experiences, or challenges with off, or overnight shifts?

Hi, T-storm, I work nights from 8:30 - 5:30am including a bit of office paperwork post-patrol. I too am on my own except for receiving safety check-ins by cell from the static site security patrols every two hours. Are you able to/allowed to access Internet while on shift? On my down times in the patrol car between drive and walk checks I access MFP community boards or sometimes read an ebook. I also listen to CBC Radio One which has programs from BBC and Deutsche Welle for a bit of mental stimulation. If you aren't in Canada, something similar might be public radio. If you aren't driving (I don't know what you do for work) puzzle books like crosswords, word search, or sudoku can help. I like to color at home, that might fill your time too. My tough time is around 3 am - normally the body's lowest energy state, sometimes I feel like a snack but I don't bring enough for then and try to stay away from the 7-11, lol. I do have a protein snack with some fat around midnight as that's technically my dinner time. My first meal isn't usually until supper with hubby at 6:30ish, and I only do a snack at 4pm if I'm really hungry and the mini-meal at midnight. I do Intermittent Fasting for 18:6 pretty well every day. My issue is mainly trying to have a day life on my days off....too much stuff to do and I want to spend time with friends and family so I lose out on sleep fairly often. I know that's not good for the metabolism either. Other than that, I love working nights, I've been an owl ever since I was a baby.

I work overnights 11:30pm to 7:30am. I have dinner around 7pm. During my shift i only drink flavoured waters, diet coke for the caffeine or coffee black. I have breakfast when I get home which usually consists of fat with protein or keto coffee. Lunch is usually around 2pm. I find that this works for me and I don't get hungry during the night. I have been doing keto for 4 months now with food results I think it works well for people who work nights. I'm keto you are always full and have lots of energy.

I usually listen to podcasts fasting talk, 2 Keto dudes, and various ones of the like. I fortunately don't eat at work to often nowadays. I do feel you with the loss of sleep, it is hard to sleep in the day. During my days off I try to keep my normal schedule.

Awesome, Keto has totally changed my life, the energy is awesome. I think though the I would have to say appetite suppression has been the best!

Hi, @Thundyrstorm, I don't have a problem sleeping in the day.... Part of the reason I don't eat past midnight or so is so my body isn't busy digesting when I want to sleep. I get home at 5:30 am and get straight to bed after a 15 minute crossover chat with hubby (he gets up for work just after I get home.). I'm asleep by 6 am but have total blackout curtains in our bedroom, eyemask and earplugs. No electronics/tv in the bedroom and door closed so I can't hear any phone calls (voicemail picks up our office calls). My prob is I often set my alarm for 5 hrs later so I can get all my day stuff done before dinner time.

Not necessarily low carb related, but this is a great post:
