Q about logging exercise

I've read the stickies and help on the fitbit site but I'm still not sure about the answer! Hopefully someone here can help me understand.

My Fitbit and MFP are synced. I understand that I don't need to log my steps, as I receive the fitbit calorie adjustment each day. But what about other workouts?

Do I need to log non-step based workouts such as biking or weights, into MFP? I see Fitbit logs the minutes and calorie burn (but doesn't count towards steps), but I'm unsure on if these workouts (bike, weights) are added to the total calorie adjustment. I don't want to double up.

Also, is there any benefit to activating the "walk" or "treadmill" button on my activity tracker before a workout, instead of just walking and letting the watch kick in?

Yes, your exercise logged in Fitbit is included in the adjustment you see on MFP, because it's based on your total calories burned. Many find it easiest to log exercise in Fitbit as it seems to give a more accurate burn estimation. Even if you did log it on MFP it wouldn't double count...MFP would override Fitbit for the same time frame.

If I can find the exercise in Fitbit I use that. Calories are so much more accurate. Today is a fun example, Fitbit didn’t have shoveling so I used MFP and when I looked at the time frame MFP was to many cals had to manually adjust. Never had to adjust for Fitbit.

Can someone show me a picture of what it looks like on the my fitness pal app when the exercise from fit bit is adjusting the calories? I worked out for an hour today and am not seeing how many calories I burned on myfitnes pal. I only see it on my fit bit so I am not sure how many calories to add to my daily goal? Thank you.

There is no exercise from Fitbit that comes over to MFP.

Merely the daily total at that point.

MFP corrects itself for what it estimated with that figure.

You would NOT add the calories yourself- if you truly burned more than MFP estimated anyway - you get a positive adjustment.

If you had a workout, and then especially lazy rest the day - you could get negative adjustment.

Read the 1st page of the FAQ carefully, 2 x if needed.
