My first WI of the new year and I was
UP 3.8# !!!
SW 376.2 (2013)
CW 191.6
GW 179
Reasons (excuses?) for weight gained:
Last two weeks have taken me out of my normal routine. Weather was snow and cold so I quit walking our dog.
Pool closed for repairs so quit going to aqua aerobics and swimming laps.
Did I adjust my Calorie Intake to match my greatly reduced Calorie Output (CICO)?
HECK NO!! Thus a big gain.
I’m still skeptical abut the new Freestyle Plan. I keep thinking just because WW says foods are Zero Points doesn’t mean the calories disappear!
I will stay with it and adjust my portions of the Zero Points food,
I did register at our community Rec Center pool and plan to get back to my former activity level.
Onward and Downward!
I am curious to see how long it will take me to lose the 3.8# I put on in two weeks? Stay tuned...

This is most likely the reason for the gain (the other things may have contributed a little). The same sort of thing happened when Core was first introduced. For some reason, people forgot that food still has calories regardless of the "points" associated with them.
One thing I remember vividly -- In the original Core plan, avocados were a Core food. I love avocados! See where this might be going?I went WILD with avocados the first week I switched to Core. Until I went back and looked at how many points 1/4 of an avocado had just the week before. I was eating a WHOLE avocado every day. Luckily my brain re-engaged after about 4 days of doing this. And avocados were removed from the list of Core foods shortly after that.
Same thing with sugar-free jello pudding (made with skim milk). But that didn't mean that making a package of it and eating the whole thing as a single serving should have been assumed to have no calories. Or someone eating 3 pounds of grapes in one sitting. Or a whole watermelon. Yes, all of those are examples of what some people posted about shortly after Core was introduced.
I still haven't seen the list of the zero-point foods, but I'm guessing it's pretty close to the list of Core foods I am accustomed to. One food that I *know* is zero-points is an egg -- but what size egg? Small, medium, large, extra-large, or jumbo? There's a difference in the calorie count of those eggs. While having two jumbo eggs for breakfast once or twice a week might not cause a problem, having them every day will.
A little adjustment to your zero-point foods should make things turnaround pretty quickly. OR, you could just continue using the old program. There's nothing wrong with that.

By the way, overeating zero-point foods is no different than the friend I have who is doing the "keto diet" and brags about eating a pound of bacon and a dozen eggs for breakfast. Or a two-pound steak for dinner. It's still overeating and isn't that what we're attempting to get away from?2

This is from the dashofherbs.com website:
"PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND
Just because some of these food items are zero points, please don’t over-indulge. Please be mindful of your body and know when to stop eating. Just because a chicken breast is zero points, please don’t eat 5 in one sitting. Use the serving sizes in recipes or on the app as a guide.
Don’t over-indulge or overeat just because these are zero points. Listen to your body and stop when you are satisfied, not when you are stuffed (like when you eat a Thanksgiving meal).
As great as the new zero point food list is, remember to track everything and eat a balanced diet. I say to track everything, because this is new to all of us, and until you become comfortable with the changes to the points, it’s best to err on the side of caution. Track it all until you feel more comfortable with these updates."0 -
And this is from slenderkitchen.com
"A Word of Caution on Zero Point Foods
There is no doubt that zero points foods are one of the things that people love the most about the Weight Watchers program but for some, they can lead to slower weight loss if they are overused. This is especially true when it comes to lean proteins, beans and legumes, eggs, and fruit. Generally, you should try to eat zero points foods in moderation and only until you are full. Try not to overeat, watching portion sizes, even if it is zero point food. For example, even though eggs are zero points with the new plan, it still isn't a good idea to have a 4 or 6 egg omelet for breakfast. Instead opt for a 2-3 egg omelet, which is closer to a standard portion size.
Additionally, if you find your weight loss is slowing or plateauing, it may be a good idea to look at how you are using zero point foods. Many people find that they may be overusing these foods and when they cut back, their weight loss picks up again. Again, this is just a strategy to consider if your weight loss isn't progressing as you would like. If it is - then just keep doing what you are doing!"1 -

Thanks, my “avocado” was/is the turkey and BEANS chili! I will be working off my indulgence and looking ahead to get back to reality.
Zero Points will not be my excuse to overeat.1 -
Well, we live and learn Jim. I'm sure you'll be fine once you get the kinks worked out of Freestyle.beachwoman2006 wrote: »Or a whole watermelon.
Yup; found that one out the hard way last summer. And it wasn't a whole watermelon. But it was a lot for each of several days. No such thing as the free lunch, is there?
