True story: Mom died at the age of 59. Father was 8 years her senior, so he was 67. He had just recently retired with a nice pension and Social Security (things I won't have) and his income in retirement matched his income before retirement. Sweet!. Anyway, he stayed in the same house he had lived in since 1970. He ate the same breakfast he had eaten since 1930. He drove the same car he'd bought years before. He mowed the same grass. He wore the same suit and on Sundays went to the same church. His daughters worried about him being so lonely. That he might be lonely didn't occur to me. My oldest sister took it upon herself after 3 years of his widowerhood to ask if he was interested in seeing a lady. His reply to her was that it hadn't occurred to him to do so. She, being stubborn, suggested that he look at those ladies at church and see if he wanted to try forming a relationship with one of them. He's 70 it this point. It was a small church with a small group of eligible widows. He picked the youngest one. She was 53. He approached her and asked to visit. They went out and spent time getting to know one another. He didn't tell his kids and she didn't tell hers. Along comes Thanksgiving. This day he's home alone and she has all her kids and grand kids in her house for her big performance. He didn't know that, so he figured he'd invite her out to lunch at Lubys. He called her house, and her daughter answered. He said, "May I speak with Annette?" Her daughter pressed the mouthpiece to her belly and shouted, "Momma, it's a MAN!". They married in the Spring and went away to Arkansas for a week-long honeymoon. They returned. I visited. I asked her, "How was your honeymoon?"
She replied, "He was wonderful!"10 -
Another true story....Mom had planned a big 90th birthday party for Dad with lots of friends visiting pretty much all day. As the evening wore on and people were still stopping by, Dad started to become agitated. It was about 11pm by then. He finally told everyone to GET OUT AND GO HOME! I NEED TO GO TO BED! He was not talking about going to sleep. Mom was mortified.8

It certainly gives hope to the libido-challenged prei-menopausal. Perhaps this too shall pass! LOL5

It will. things get better - not from my personal experience since I'm a guy - but from my personal experience from being married. That time is not all that fun the spouse's perspective. Better now.2 -
My wife (46) is peri-menopausal and luckily, her libido has skyrocketed to the point of sometimes 5-6/week. Thankfully I (52) have lost weight and have been working out for a few years and that has definitely helped in both performance and refractory time.
With our kids not home very much, we have plenty of time to play.5 -
And people wonder why our group is the busiest in the history of MFP !!!1

As I work hard to get stronger and to lose weight my body changes make for interesting challenges. Some things hurt more due to workouts. I deal with cramps more often which impact"the mood". There's less belly in my way which is good. I have more energy except for the times that a workout wipes me out.
Keeps things interesting.0 -
Being divorced and kind of shy, I've not been putting myself out there on the dating market. I keep hoping one of the yoga hens will decide to visit the yoga rooster.4

UncleMac, you are loaded with humor and charm. Smile at one of the ladies that catches your eye. If she smiles back suggest coffee. I cannot see one reason why she would say no. Even if there is ultimately no spark, she could introduce you to someone else. Female friends lead to romantic partners. Try it. I am shy too but always feel better when I try stuff despite it.4 -
I agree with Nikki
An old Geordie expression " shy bairns get nowt"
Coffee is always a great starting point2 -
I am a fan of coffee...
It's been a couple of years since I divorced. At some point, I should start dating again. About a year out, I dipped into the online dating world. All I can say about online dating is: the odds are good but the goods are odd... I never went past a first coffee date. I decided to spend time working on me instead.4 -
Online dating is something I'm not that familiar with. I do hope u get to meet someone lovely to have coffee ☕️ with0
-
I'm in better mental space now that I was back when I tried online dating. I might try it again... or not...
Working on myself gave me the opportunity to take my emotional baggage from being checked luggage with a 'heavy' tag to carryon only.2 -
That's good progress. It is hard to get better.1

Bump
Too many people in the house over the holidays. Makes it difficult0 -
What a difference a year makes... I'm in a relationship and it turns out sex is still a thang...10

I find the phone app annoying beyond all comprehension and I only had intermittent computer access during my visit so I didn't bother logging much.
On a somewhat related note, what's the usual cal-burn rate of getting jiggy?2 -
https://www.menshealth.com/sex-women/sex-workoutMen burn 100 calories in the average sex session, while women expend 69. (Yes, 69.)

Hey...who you calling old?1
-
You burn very few calories unless you are very athletic and ambitious. At this age I am neither. I'm just happy things still work.3

V day sex - lots of performance pressure!3

I'm really hoping that once I get some weight off.... my wife will desire me, and that I won't be out of breath during sex. lol1

Someone in my news feed posted "Sex-Intercourse" in their exercise log. That got a few laughs and comments. HAHA!

I don't post it unless I have other higher calorie items to post along with it. When you post multiple exercise items, the largest number is the one that gets mentioned on the newsfeed as "....... including xyz".1
