Okay, We have all been there. Reaching for a snack but want to pick something that is still in our way of eating. Something quick and doesn’t require a lot of preparation. Something to grab and eat on the way home from work or school gym etc. need something now kind of snacks. What are your go to snacks in those times?

Pepperoni sticks, cheese, a small bag of nuts or seeds, veggies and dip, a small container of plain yogurt, protein shake, bullet proof coffee.3
-
Oh snap pickles, string cheese, water and gum, think thin bars.2
-
italian meats, cheese, nuts, olives, pickles, quest bar, protein shake (low carb)...4

4 posts already and no one's mentioned hard boiled eggs or pork rinds???6
-
Pickled eggs!! Yum also same as above cheese & pepperoni & macadamias or walnuts or pecans.3

Individual packets of nut butter (you can carry them in your car or purse), individually wrapped high % cacao dark chocolate, baked cheese crisps (think chips/crackers).4

It’s not pretty, but you can open and eat an avocado with plastic utensils. When I have to be out through meal times I’ll usually pack one along with a packet of salt. Adding a slightly sweeter mix like pecans, dried cranberries, and bittersweet chocolate chips (but mostly pecans) gives me more variety and energy while still keeping my carbs proportionally low.7

Wholy guacamole individual serves with pork rinds. Costco has small serve bags of mixed nuts that can be kept in your purse safely. And I keep a snack bag of pink salt crystals in my purse if hunger hits me while I am out and about. Yea, purse salt is a thing.6

I didn't read the word hunger in the original post. One of my "how I got fat" habits was eating in the car and other places/times when I wasn't hungry. Eating just to pass the time is something I have worked really hard to eliminate. But yes, if you must eat, all of the above suggestions are reasonable.8

Avocado with some vegannaise and sea salt. Nuts. Boiled eggs. Cucumbers and cheese. Piece of smoked salmon. Piece of fat head bread.1

I can’t imagine a reality where I need a food ASAP.
I just never feel that anymore.
I’m so far beyond it. It’s a distant memory.7 -
Yeah I need to plan a little better and keep snacks with me. Sometimes I go for hours at work or at the gym and then I come home and I just want something before settling down to make something in the kitchen for dinner so I little bit of something helps hold me over.0

Well that’s awesome for the people who dont have the urge to snack but for me, I snack. Trail mix, babybel cheese, mixed nuts, carrots and hummus, sometimes a Granny Smith apple or orange, pork rinds!, freeze dried strawberries, freeze dried edamame beans, quest bars, oh yeah one bars, wasabi almonds, tuna pack, blueberries, any kind of nut butter!5

Keep an eye on the Oh Yeah One bars as they have revamped the ingredients and have reduced the sugar alcohols so they are no longer as low in carbs (for those who subtract sugar alcohols).

cheese. nuts. parm crisps. protein powder mixed with mostly water and a few tablespoons of heavy cream. avocados. deli meat or salami.
I hate pork rinds.1 -
Sunflower seeds or salami and cheese are my go to snacks. Hubby likes pork rinds (yuck). We tried the quest bars at someone else's suggestion but we're not fans...so yeah.1

Elliots Pecans for me - gosh they are GOOD!!!0

For quick meals I keep Epic protein bars on hand, avocados, hard boiled eggs, raw almonds, pickles, olives sometimes. I can get tired of olives. I'm limiting my dairy at present in a personal experiment but I have kept cheese and Fage 2% unflavored yogurt on hand in the past. I LOVE highly salted Fage 2% plain yogurt. Seriously. It's uuuhhhhhmaaaazing.0

Pork rinds and sour cream/hummus, pepperoni stick, veggies and dip/hummus, cheese slices, deli meat.0

It's not really a "need something now!" snack, but an "I'm bored and want to munch something and I'm not actually hungry" snack.
Seaweed... Seasnax Toast Onion Seaweed. Delicious, crunchy and salty... only 50 calories for the entire bag, and less than 1g carbs. It's my snack for when I'm eating for reasons other than hunger. (Which I'm better now at not doing, but am human so... may as well have a strategy!)2 -

I need to look into this! Crunchy and Salty are my two most very favorite things ever and I've not yet found something that does for me what chips and crackers used to. (I swear I'm the only low carb person who hates parmesan crisps. barf-ola)
I can't wait to try them!

costco macadamia nuts portioned into 1/4 c bags. The fat is filling. The salt makes you want more water.1

I ate 1/2 lb of unsalted raw macadamias the other day. In one go. The fat is NOT filling enough to offset the flavour, lol. I could never eat 1/2 lb of butter at one time, what is it about macadamias???

yep - if I don't portion them I will eat a ton of them then feel really full. they are addicting, delicious, and low carb0 -
Cottage cheese (especially with a few cherry tomatoes and S&P), a single laughing cow wedge spread over a few NutThin crackers, cucumber & red bell pepper slices with some Greek yogurt ranch dip, a tuna packet, Marcona almonds (way yummier than regular almonds, and you can find a good deal at Costco on them from time to time), and last but not least... a HUGE bottle of water. Usually if I am feeling snack-ey, if I chug some water I realize I was much more dehydrated than hungry!1

Oh, and if I crave something sweet, some berries tossed with a bit of whipped cream and a bit of Greek yogurt is awesome!3

Cello Whisps Parmesan Cheese Crisps are my favorite crunchy snack at the moment (Found them at Costco). Other than that I will have a low carb protein bar now and then, you just need to find the ones that are lower in carbs vs energy bars that typically have a lot of carbs.2

I can't do hard boiled eggs because I eat 2-3 eggs for breakfast everyday. I try not to do nuts a lot, because I eat too many-so many. I love Atkins endulge chocolate/coconut bars, sea salt and caramel Kind bars, string cheese, and premier protein banana flavor shakes. Whisps and moon cheese, sometimes I love them and sometimes I don't- taste differs day to day. Weird. That said, I hate snacking- I like to eat enough at meals to get me through, though I'm still looking for something at 10 and 3. I just made coconut butter for those fat bombs someone mentioned, but haven't had time to make them yet... can't wait! The avocado in the car idea is awesome...I'm going to start hording mustard packets!1

I forgot I had Paldo roasted seaweed in my cupboard and found it last night before patrol shift. I took a packet of that and it totally solved my salty chip craving and kept me out of 7-11. One packet is 30 cal, 2.5 g fat, 2g carb with 2g fibre (net 0), and 4 g protein. I have 6 more packets waiting in the wings so that should help me stay away from my nemesis for the next while.0
