not eating enough

I'm new to this and I'm not getting enough calories. I don't eat breakfast, I eat lunch and dinner. I'm just not hungry. I'm really happy about that but...I do need more calories.

How low are you aiming for your carbs? I had the same problem at first trying to stay under 30 net, which it turns out there was really no particular reason for me to do. But in order to keep my carbs that low I had to gravitate toward high-calorie, low-carb foods, and that didn’t leave me a lot of room for, like...vegetables. And then I still couldn’t make my calories, because I don’t LIKE eating meat and cheese all day.
I feel much better when I eat vegetables. Lots of them, and also some fruit. So I revised my goal to make net carbs a target percentage of my calories (5-10%, for keto) rather than a fixed number, and that helped a lot. Now that I’m not just trying to get as many calories with as few carbs as possible, I can eat a much bigger variety of foods, and I wind up eating more calories. I’ll eat an avocado to “buy” more room for raspberries, or take a few scoops of egg salad so I can “afford” some beans on my salad.
I don’t know if that addresses the specific reason you find yourself undereating, but if it does and you’re ever looking for ideas my diary’s open.1 -
It won’t last.3

Then up your fats, add avocados, add more butter or cream. Fats add up quickly. You might take a look at some of the start keto food plans, there are dozens of free ones. I started with Atkins20 for Foodies, but there are many more. Google free keto food plans. Even if you don't follow one, they will give you ideas of what you should be eating.
Not getting enough calories is worse than eating too many calories, so up those cals ASAP.0 -
How new? There is a point, a few days to a couple weeks in, where you just don't feel like you want any of the foods you are allowed. It does pass. I tell people not to stress about short-term things like this. If it continues for more than two weeks, that would be concerning. It almost never does.4

Thanks. All great tips. I am learning, I feel great. Adjusted my macros, and have to eat more veggies and up my fat intake some. But the scale is going down, more important, I feel great!1

Yep, it cycles, lol. You'll find days that you will want to eat a horse and other days where a lettuce leaf is well, meh. Like the other above posters said, only worry about it if it lasts for a couple weeks, as long as you are eating nutrient dense foods and not just cucumbers and bacon,0

I find when I'm eating keto I don't get very hungry most days until afternoon. Assuming you have weight to lose, then your body has plenty of fat for energy. The hunger for me comes from more of an empty stomach rather than a need for energy. Don't eat when you aren't hungry and eat a well balanced (veggies, protein, heathy fats) meal when you are. Your body will tell you if it needs more food, or if its fine on the fat stores its gobbling up.0

I had the same thing when first started HFLC, I had couple weeks like this too, won't feel hungry and lost weight pretty fast, but it pasted and my appetite are back, so I eat my calorie goal. Then recently I had some strong cravings, so I took a diet break eating at TDEE for two weeks and now I am back on the diet. I think this kind of cycle will probably be repeated in the future too.0
