I started doing Keto this week. Have any of you had alcohol while on this plan? I read some on it and it said that clear alcohol is ok?

I drink. But I never really was a beer person, and I never liked sweet mixers in my alcohol. My drinks of choice were always things like wine or a vodka soda. Alcohol does slow down my weight loss, but a little here and there never seems to have much impact.
the Diet Doctor website has some good information regarding alcohol and Keto. https://www.dietdoctor.com/?s=alcohol1 -
Your body burns alcohol before anything else. I still drink dry red or white wine a few times a week. I only have a glass of wine now, I feel the effects sooooo much more now. With two glasses I am 3 sheets to the wind now.
So if you have a social occassion or celebration. A tad won't hurt you. Of course, the more often you have it the less your body has to grab your stored fat for energy.3 -
Also note your tolerance is likely to go waaaay down.4

Tolerance goes down. Which is not a bad thing at all. Lots of low carb beers out there. And lots of liquor that is basically no carb. Don't drink without eating first, even if you don't feel hungry. You will feel it.1

I will sometimes have some bourbon or scotch, straight up or on the rocks. Maybe with a little seltzer water, if I am feeling like a bubbly booze.
I don't drink much outside of that. I sometimes do dry wines, but very rarely. I also don't enjoy most other booze straight and most mixers that I would use are sweet (I avoid sweet things entirely).0 -
My typical go to drink is vodka, soda, and lime. That being said I don't drink all that often and notice it stalls my weight loss. Whiteclaw seltzers are lower carb and I might have one of those once in a while for something different.0

I have to say I really miss beer and cider, I didn't really drink much (just beer festivals and special occasions) in a week but I miss it, and I've only been keto just over a week Having had a look on this subject online though I figure when I fancy a drink I'll go with vodka and diet coke, straight whisky, or a red wine spritzer0

Lots of low carb beers are out there! Don't deprive yourself to the point where you feel deprived:)0 -

Looks like the low carb beers available seem to be lagers, and I'm more of a proper ale gal I think I'll survive on other options in the meantime, but when it comes beer festival time in June I will definitely HAVE to come off keto for a weekend!!2 -
Drinking and Keto dont mix. Can you have a low carb drink every so often and be ok, sure. Just remember that when your body takes in alcohol, it immediately stops producing ketones. So drinking even a low carb beverage (liquor, mic ultra, etc..), while keeping macros on paper looking ok, is far worse for you then the paper shows. it will slow your results, thats the bottom line.0

@FruityLoops yep, if you actually like BEER, you will not enjoy the low carb swill. I now understand non-beer drinkers references to horse pee.
Although I am typically am in ketosis, I classify myself as low carb since my carbs are set at 10%. I enjoy an occasional stout, porter or ale. This is a lifestyle for me, not a general weight loss plan, so I'm going to work it in because I love them. I am just much more discerning now and ensure I only partake minimally and with the "good stuff". If they aren't serving up "good stuff" or it doesn't fit my macros/calories that day, I have been leaning towards mojito's lately. I didn't even log during last year's craft beer festival. I just reveled.
Like others have commented, its no joke that your tolerance drops significantly.1 -
I purchased wine from Dry Farm Wines. They are somewhat pricey, but they state (and can back up the research/science) to be Organic/Biodynamic, sugar free <1%, carb free <1%, low alcohol <12.5% and Paleo and Keto approved. People say they've tested and have remained in ketosis. The wines are pretty good - so far I'm enjoying.0

Take it easy! Anything over 90 Proof has very little carbs but your tolerance may have changed drastically. Go slow and drink lots of water.0

This. After nine months of keto, I decided to have a drink with my girlfriend one night, just for *kitten* and grins. Granted, I’ve never been a huge drinker, so never had an exceptionally high tolerance. That said, a single shot of Jameson had me full-on stupid drunk within 20 minutes. I was asleep less than an hour later.
Them feels when your 90 lbs. woman calls you a lightweight. Hah.4 -
I spent a night on the bathroom floor after a night of reckless drinking. Felt like an irresponsible teenage drinker. To say yoyr tolerance is lower is QUITE the understatement!0

That's true for most.
Unfortunately, I've always been a heavyweight and that didn't change during keto for me.1 -
Hasn't changed for me either. lol0
