Can a woman ever be too tall or heavy to wear dress shoes in public, eg high heels? And be trendy?

If the woman's feet can tolerate high heels, then I say go for it! At commencement we see a wide variety of shoe styles and heel heights. We often wonder how some of these women can manage to walk across the stage.
Personally, I could live in sneakers 100% of the time. I will wear dress shoes for weddings and other occasions where my athletic shoes aren't appropriate. Fortunately I don't have to do that more than a couple times a year.0 -
I think women should wear or not wear anything they want. That said, heels are so bad for your feet. I broke my ankle/leg 20 years ago (yes screws to put it back together again) so I can't wear heels anymore. I live in my running shoes. I'm also more inclined to walk further if I have on running shoes.0

Guy’s opinion here: I say that a tall and/or heavy woman could definitely wear heels in public and still be “trendy”. For me, the bigger questions are about why she is or isn’t wearing heels. If she’s doing it because she loves how heels make her look or feel, great. If she’s doing it for the approval of others, then she likely won’t be happy wearing them. My wife is a tall woman, and she looks awesome in heels, but she almost never wears them for fear of how others think. Once a woman gets to the place where what she wears is based on her own opinion, she may find she wears all sorts of clothes that she never let herself wear before.0

I spent many years wearing very high heels. Then I broke my ankle. Haven't been able to wear heels since.
I think whatever someone wants to wear is fine as long as THEY are happy wearing it and aren't wearing it for someone else.
I worked with a young lady who was 6'1" tall and she wore heels to work EVERY day and looked amazing in them (the guys liked it because she also wore mini skirts, but I digress).
I'm a very laid-back person and prefer shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops in the summer and jeans, sweatshirts, and either boots or walking shoes in the winter. I can't tell you the last time I wore a pair of shoes with more than a 1" heel.
