Newbie 100 lbs - looking for friends that get it!

Day 1 for me on keto and my fitness pal. I signed up a long time ago but haven't actually used it. Looking for friends with similar goals. I've 100lbs to lose. I've lost weight before but am expert at putting it back on and more. I have to do it this time. I'm 47 with two girls aged 10 and 6. I want to be around for them!
If you can help me along the way please let me know. I have no-one in my immediate social circle that is overweight at all so I need friends that get it!

Welcome!! I've been LCHF/keto for 2.5 years and have lost 200+ lbs. I definitely get it!! I'm struggling with losing the last 20 or so right now, but I'm still working at it daily.15

You aren't an expert at this. ^^ This is a biological imperative function. Give yourself a break. It isn't all your fault.

The most valuable comment made in that video is "when you see food...". I'm not disputing anything in the video. I'm saying clean up your food environment. Get rid of the highly palatable foods in the house. Turn the volume off and don't watch the TV food commercials. Stay out of the middle (generally) aisles of the grocery store where all the processed stuff is shelved. You're not going to change the food manufacturers and restaurants overnight but you can change your behaviors and frequency of stimuli. You do have choices.6

Add me to your list. I have 100 lbs to lose. Although as of Monday only 76. I hit my first 10%down on just 9 weeks averaging 2.66lbs a week with virtually no exercise. Watch Butter Bob Briggs YouTube videos as well as those of Keto Christine. They have lost 150lb and 100lbs respectively. You can do this and you don't need any special books or meal plans. It's soooo simple. Just program you MFP app for 5%carbs, 15% protein and 80%fat. Fat is your friend. Drill that into your head. You can only have 20 carbs no matter what it says with the 5%. Just remember to adjust that mentally in your head as you track. My diet diary is open to the public. Almost everyday for the past 9 months I have enjoyed 2-3 slices of bacon or other breakfast meat and 2-3 eggs with or without vegetables and cheese. This is the yummiest diet there is. Once your body goes into ketosis and starts burning all the abundant calories you have in storage you won't even feel hungry and all those carb cravings will disappear. Never in my life have I felt like this. God bless. Add me if you would like. Don't tell anyone what you are doing. Just let them see the results. The Standard American diet crowd of lo gay high carb just eat a little less and exercise more people have a heart attack when you tell them how much fat you eat. You can't tolerate carbs if you are severely overweight. Keto and intermittent fasting will have almost anyone off of most of their meds in a month.
By the way, I am 54 and my kids are 16,14, 12, 10 and 10. We homeschool and you can imagine life is beautiful and full. I don't have time for fancy recipes and exercising hours a day. Start watching you tube videos. Butter Bob takes you on a tour through Walmart to tell you what you need to buy. Keto Christina has a couple of good ones on getting started.11 -
Getting off one's meds in a month isn't a realistic expectation for most, so please keep that in their mind. And not everyone can fast.
PLUS, it takes far longer than 4 weeks to get heavily into ketosis and be on your way to fat adaption. Folks eating poorly before due better to wait until at least 12 weeks to include fasting in their protocols.3 -

Thank you @KnitOrMiss for bringing up that valid point. I have been strict keto since July 27th and I am not off any of my meds yet. We have to be careful when offering any type of medical advice to people. Everyone is different, Everyone will respond differently, and keto isn't for everyone.1

I have had 2 babies in the past year. I have a little over 100 lbs to lose. I need support and encouragement if I am going to be able to stick to it. I am not even sure how to do this but I know low carb/keto works!5

Well, add me to the group. I have a little over 50 lbs to lose - already lost 6.5lbs in 7 days (mostly water weight from what I'm reading). But, I'm on the way to a better me. I'm a 54yo father of 3, husband of 1 and indebted to none. I've had MFP for a couple years now (I think). Used it intermittently. From now on, it's going to be a part of my daily efforts -- as I hope the community forums will be.3

Hello I’ve lost 80 lbs out of my goal of 120lbs. I lost most of the weight in 2016 by December of that year i lost about 65 pounds...was gearing up for thyroid surgery so I stopped because i was too sick to focus on anything so now I’ve been back since January and about 80 pounds or so into this new lifestyle so it truly takes dedication and focus but you can do it
1st image was around 2011 or 2012 around in college and other photo is 2015 at 268 and last photo is recent when i decided to do keto again! I’m around 185 now
So this is just to show that if I who thought that there was no hope for me again and i would never see under 200 pounds can get there you can too! you can do it for sure!

Day 6 for me and I'm honestly feeling competely over my head. I keep reading and reading and I walk away from the literature thinking I don't have the time for all the planning and prepping this is going to take YET I know I deserve the results this way of life delivers. So I figure I need to join a group of people who might feel the same.
