I dunno. Still having tummy issues, but not making healthy selections either. Had fast food ALL weekend, well for dinner Saturday night my son and DIL came over and we opted to go to Red Lobster for dinner..so I had 1.5lbs of crablegs and two cheddar biscuits with water. That was the healthiest of my choices. Food choices are the key. Of course we saw the Avengers movie, which then also included popcorn and chocolate, followed by Raising Canes chicken tenders for a late lunch. Yeah, I paid for it with an upset tummy all afternoon and evening – even this morning not quite normal. Didn’t eat dinner, however, after picking up MIL from airport, I did grill steaks for me and chicken for hubby and MIL along with sweet potatoes. Also have lean burgers prepped and frozen if we need a quick meal. Hoping we get back on track with MIL here. Neck still irritated…ugh. Took my tank in to review and ensure no damages. Her license plate screws and frame are imprinted into my bumper… Also, the impact knocked out clips from both rear doors – they replaced the clips -. yeah don’t think she used her brakes.
Kelly – AWESOME reduction last week!! Stay focused. You’ve got this. Also, have someone take measurements as that will also help keep you on track.
Sheesh – WOOT WOOT to you too!!! Especially considering you had your daughter visiting and choices available. I LOVE when my kids visit (even if it’s only for 20 hours or so).
Sarah – WOW WOW WOW!!! Have you not seen my posts? My weight is bopping up and down with almost a FIVE lb variable…both UP and DOW. We are not the number we post on our weigh in day, it is just a way to keep us on track. Hope all is calming down for you even just a wee little bit.
And I agree with Sarah’s comment from last week, though none of us have ever met, you gals are my girlfriends and confidantes. We all have something to share with one another, not just with steps and weight. I truly appreciate every one of you.
My Goal for the week – healthier choices and a bike ride or two!!

I think I was posting at the same time as you today, Lois, so I added to last week's thread. I truly think that modern lifestyles make it more difficult for us to prepare, cook, and eat the basic foods we all know are best for us. I'll bet you all agree that there are times you feel stretched see-through thin with so many things to do and so many things and people counting on you.
I have company coming Thursday, and she'll be here 11 days, so we'll see how that affects me. She has back and leg issues and cannot walk very much. Last time she was here, she tried to go on my hilly outside route with me because she so loves the big trees in our neighborhood. (She lives in the desert where they have scrubby trees and not huge oaks. pine, and maples.) But she couldn't tolerate the hills. So I will probably not get as many steps in while she's here since I'll still be working some of those days and it is probably rude to jump up from my desk and head to the mall or out to walk. But I'll do my best. At least when I checked food choices with her (she has had colon surgery since her last visit), she said she loves fruits and vegetables more than anything else. So maybe that will get me also eating more of them. Maybe!0 -
Lois, you had a reduction. . . good for you. Even with Red Lobster and all. With MIL visiting, and Sarah having a friend for 11 days, it's going to be challenging. But, for me, sometimes I eat better when my kids are here or when we go see them. They feed their children healthy food. Sometimes I make cookies, but the children (and my son) gobble them up pretty fast, so I almost never get any, haha! When my daughter was here, she didn't want to overeat, so we were pretty good other than the dinner out before "Hamilton". And we girls worked out together.
Sarah, I agree that 2 weeks is too long for a houseguest. We've found that 3 nights is a good visit. The grandkids always want more, but the adult children . . I think they are ready for us to go, especially the in-law children. They ask us to stay longer, and when we were waiting for the grand baby to be born, we stayed for 3 weeks! When visiting, we will do our own thing (go play golf or go shopping, movie, lunch, etc.) and also will stay with kids while parents do their own thing. My DIL will go for a run while I stay with kids. Then, I will go for a walk alone. Hubby will take mid-day naps. I think it would be fine if you just relax and do your own thing every so often, and encourage your friend to do the same.
It also helps if you serve wine a lot, lol!

Love seeing all of these posts! I'm wrapping up my work day so I thought I'd stop in here to see what was happening. I'm off my next shift so I'll be home until May 21st. It'll be a much needed nice break. I haven't had time off since Christmas and being away from home is so hard at times.
Thank you all for the kind comments about my dress. You should know that besides my parents and my bridesmaids, you are the only people who have seen it. I often tell you things or talk about things on here that I would never talk to other people about. It's something about the security of maybe not really knowing each other?? I'm not sure. Maybe it's just that you all make me feel so comfortable and not judged.
Sarah - Ugh.. work. It sucks. lol Having your friend come visit will be nice! I'm sure she won't mind if you have to pop out for a walk here and there, especially if she's staying for that long.
Lois - Mmmm Red Lobster. It's been a long time since I've been there.
Sheesh - I agree with you. I think 3 nights is enough, especially when it's family and kids are involved lol0 -
I have come to accept that I'm just not going to get all the cleaning, shopping, planting and other things done before my friend gets here. Too much going on besides that that has to be done, and my energy is not up to par of late. I think that it's lack of sleep. I keep meaning to get to bed early, but then . . .
Today is a sad day for kind of a silly reason. We're donating our old SUV to the ASPCA. There are a lot of good memories involved with that vehicle. I personalize things sometimes because I relate them to people and events and a time in my life. Whatever. We don't need the cost of insurance (which in this area is way high) and maintaining a third vehicle. So goodbye Chuck.0 -

Well steady as she goes, although yesterday, I weighed 141.4. So for some reason, for two weeks in a row, I've hit a low on weigh in day. That's quite a feat!
I have only a moment and hope I can come back later to chat. Today has been a killer a work and I still have so much to do to get ready for company. I have worked steady all day with out a break, and although I'm breaking now to run and errand and eat dinner, I expect to have to work again later tonight to finish a report due at noon tomorrow. Having company during the first weeks of our campaign is crazy! Hope everyone else is doing well.0 -
Sarah - WOOT WOOT!!! Way to go!!! A REDUCTION
Sheesh - you're right I DID have a reduction. Was not feeling great on Monday and looked at it in the reverse order haha!!
Sarah - I'm WITH YOU - Short term guests. But this round, not the deep clean, I have yet to pull the petunias and plant the vincas.
Usually before we have guests the house gets a deep cleaning. We have 2400 sf of area and it takes FOREVER to clean that sucker (doesn't seem large until cleaning - then I really miss my Cali home of 1400 sf. ) Though I do LOVE our home once it's cleaned and we're having a party. not so much the rest of the time...love/hate relationship thats for sure. We re also on same page for duration for visitors at our house usually 3-4 days. Any longer and I am clear they can be on their own at times, help yourselves. Also, most of our guests get their own key to come/go as they wish while visiting (especially when their kids are involved in games/tournaments etc.). I give them our general schedule/plans and have fun.
Sarah - sad to say goodbye to our old cars...
Kelly, I hope you don't go dark while you're at home and make good choices. I'll be watching for you.
My accident saga continues....and I'm meeting with an attorney tomorrow afternoon. I'm done talking to the adjuster. I haven't submitted my medical release or records yet but he's already dismissing me and my issues. I really wish I walked away with no pain.0 -

Sorry to be here a day late for weigh in, but yesterday was crazy. Wednesdays are "my" day, so I try to schedule all my appointments and friend outings that day, and I did a bunch yesterday and went out with girlfriends last night. Despite relatively good choices, I'm up a bit in weight today.
Lois, it's upsetting that you're going to have to see an attorney about your accident. It's a dumb system. My daughter went through it. The insurance companies just won't part with any money without attorneys getting involved.
Kelly, good to see your post. I feel honored to be one of the few who've seen your beautiful dress! As Lois said, try to check in here while at home, even though we know you're organizing a wedding in addition to all the other at home stuff, lol!
Sarah, congratulations on your reduction!! As you say, steady as she goes. When does your friend arrive? I always want things to be "perfect" (as my husband says) when guests come to stay, but I've found they like it better when they're not perfect. Maybe more relaxing ? More fun ? Like you say, accept things. And have fun with her0 -
OMG. I was so tired by the time my friend arrived last night that I could not wind down to sleep. I logged into work yesterday to find that not only do we have all new agents in our call centers as of today, but in the overnight time between Wednesday and Thursday, one of these poor people received a threatening phone call about my program's ad campaign. And we had a disturbed person (different) one, posting on our social media. So I ended up working until 7 p.m. and racing out for a rotisserie chicken and potato salad while hubby was on his way home from the airport with my friend. And every break I could find yesterday, I was doing another house chore! I'm just hoping the stress didn't counteract the calorie burn! LOL But at the end of the day, I realized that for someone my age, I can put out a lot of energy, both mental and physical, and so I'm grateful. Yeah for gratitude.
Because we went to bed at 1 a.m. and everyone was beat, we slept until after 9 a.m. today, so it's now almost noon and we're just getting ready to venture out. It's going to be 90 degrees and humid so we need find something to do indoors. I cannot believe that it was in the 30's with a stiff wind and we were wearing down jackets just 5 days ago.
Kelly, I'm honored, too, to get to see your dress. And I'm one of those people who do not say things just to be nice, and I absolutely LOVE that dress. I can't wait to to see picture of you in it.
Lois, I am so sorry that the insurance company is being a "kitten!" People pay so much for insurance, and then when it's needed, these companies do everything in their power to not pay. I am glad you had your neck checked quickly. When I fell a couple of years ago, it was a week before I realized how much damage had been done. I was told by my orthopod that that is why people should go to an ER or doc immediately, even if they think they're probably okay.
If not, the insurance companies will say, "How do we know that something else didn't occur during that week?"
Sheesh, I guess you and I do share a lot of characteristics. I want everything perfect, too, and frankly no one cares! They want to see us and have a good time. And what is perfect? I'd need a whole new house for perfect!
Well ladies, I do hope that everyone has a good weekend.

Sheesh and Sarah - I love that you want it all "perfect" for guests. The terms hubby and I use are "Clean" for weekly cleaning or "Guest Ready"...MAJOR difference between those two options. AND if we're crunched for time, my poor master bedroom becomes a black hole for excess stuff. HOWEVER, I'm super fortunate, that hubby will scrub down the bathrooms and toilets for me. The only thing he doesn't do is our master vanity or shower. Those two are left to me
He was a tad upset we didn't finish "Guest Ready" before his mom got here last Sunday. It was very clean, we just didn't get behind the downstairs sofas and switch them around. I was fine with it. House looks great and we should be on target for the grad party next Saturday (must get out and remove the dead/dying petunias - no vincas going in - no time or energy).
Met with the paralegal last night. Didn't sign with them. Needed to digest if I want to go down this road etc...though I do already have $600 paid out for medical and therapy. I meet with the actual attorney Tuesday at 4:30...he is the only one who can answer my questions.0 -
I am upstairs and getting just a moment to myself. I tried to log two days of good, and goodness--I can't remember what I ate for lunch on Friday. No clue. I guess I can ask my friend. LOL I do know that I'm eating differently than I do when I do not have company. I am scared to death of what I will weigh come Wednesday. I would not be surprised to have gained two or three pounds.
I am actually upstairs, too, to call my sister who is having major surgery tomorrow. Please send prayers that it's a success.0 -
I'm thinking of your sister today, Sarah. Sending prayers her way. And, I hope you're enjoying your friend's company, and try not to neglect yourself.
Lois, I can't imagine my hubby cleaning a bathroom, lol! When he pitches in, it's dishes (he does them every day), dusting, vacuuming. He cleaned the garage last weekend, so I'm happy. He's a great helper, and very tidy. But, scrub a toilet? No.
I had a major migraine headache over the weekend. It finally went away by Sunday evening. I fought it all day Friday and Saturday and most of Sunday. Ugh. Of course, it's gone in time to have no excuse to cancel my trainer today. But, we steered clear of any move involving my neck, which seems to bring on the headaches. Anyway, I pretty much ate whatever I felt like for the last 4 days (including chocolate) hoping something would help get rid of it. I'm sure my weigh in Wed will not be great.
Have a great week ladies!0 -
Hi, Ladies. First, let me say I love my friend. But having company for a long stretch is hard.
Basically, my friend lives in Palm Desert in an area of town where most people are white, most are fairly well off, and many are ultra conservative. We live in the most multicultural city in America and there's everyone from very poor to very rich, and you will see them all. So honestly, if I hear "Well, in the Desert, we (fill in the blank)" one more time . . .
Sheesh, I'm so sorry about the migraine. Those are tough. I have ocular migraines but the pain is minimal. My sister used to have migraines so bad that we even went to a special migraine clinic in Chicago, but it didn't help that much. Mentioning my sister, she made it through the surgery, and I'm much relieved. It will be awhile before we know the outcome, but the surgeon said he was at least able to clear out a lot of arthritis, so even if she still has some pain, it should be less. I am sooo hoping and hoping it will last awhile.
I'm pretty sure given the way we've been eating that I will have gained several pounds come Wednesday. Today, we we went out for breakfast and I had a Belgian waffle and a piece of bacon, and I was appalled at how how many calories that ended up being.
Tomorrow hubby goes in for a shot in his neck. My friend is going with him and I'm going to work a half day. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kind of looking forward to working a few hours.
Lois, I hope that you soon get a good resolution about the accident. And Kelly, hoping you can pop in once or twice while you're home. Would love to hear how the house is coming along.0
