FMD on the Fly

For those of you doing FMD on the fly, ie not buying the prolon foods, what do you eat? I get tired of the same things over and over so I constantly have to change up my food so I don't get bored. Anyone else doing this? For dinner, we often do different veggies, usually about 3 oz, sauteed in olive oil with garlic and then sprinkled with parmesan cheese. What about you?

Where do you suggest going to find out more about this diet? I am a faster, but I have heard little about the mimicry system, I tend to go for 20 hour stretches and some times days without food just coffee, tea and water.

Thanks, I know of his work and have seen some interviews. At the time he was not elaborating on the particulars of the diet, so this looks like more intensive interviews.

SteamClutch - my husband was a faster, sometimes going up to 10 days. He really likes this and says he feels the same benefits except he is losing weight much more quickly and keeping it off. He has lost over 15 lbs now and we have been doing this for 3 months. We are in the FMD stage this week again for our 4th time. I personally just did a lot of research on it and combined with the Keto Diet (because my net carbs are under 50 gm, 5 out of 7 days a week, my nutritionist told me I am officially doing Keto, even though I didn't know it!) it has been a really good thing for me. Just tag me in a post by quoting or else message me if I can answer any questions for you.

The creator of this site, http://foreverfreefrom.com/fasting-mimicking-diet-guide/, has put together a great google spreadsheet and has lots of information on the diet.

    Good luck

Thanks for the link! I’m doing my 3rd home grown FMV 5 days starting today.

I don’t know that it is helping my health, but it isn’t hurting! I plan to do 5 total this year- and probably 4 a year after this until the research shows more specifics.

Uneeknitter, I know what you mean about the foods getting boring, but there's not much help for that. If you did the expensive Prolon foods, I'm sure you'd get bored from those foods too lol. Basically I do rice cakes and PB for breakfast (it's portable for work too!) with a fruit that's not too high in carbs, like a tangerine. I snack on olives or nuts. And I make an awesome vegetable soup that I have for dinner every night. The first 3 days I look forward to it and love it, by the 5th day I sorta force myself to eat it lol. Lunch varies, but I use MFP to keep to the proper percentages of macros. This is the vegetable soup I make, and the info for it is already in MFP database, just search for "Spend with pennies weight loss soup"!

I love my morning yogurt with fruit, chia , and flax. Today I had arugala and brie for lunch. Fat bombs help me increase fat and this last batch I added chia for crunch and fiber. Dinner will be a green veggie, maybe asparagus, with parmesan cheese. Love changing up the veggie and thinking perhaps I need to use some of my homemade Alfredo in place of the same old parmesan cheese.

I'm currently doing a FMD (day 2) and I'm following the super-easy no-prep plan similar to this one from Quantified Bob: https://www.quantifiedbob.com/fasting-mimicking-diet/
Every day I'm eating 2 big avocados (or 3 small ones), 2 scoops of greens powder, 2 c. unsweetened almond milk, 2 c. vegetable broth (with sriracha). Going well so far. Keto strips showed I was at 1.0 mmol/L so starting into ketosis.
