Great question mark! If you are looking to gain muscle mass I’d recommend eating roughly 1g of protein per lean fat free mass. (Which the new scale at RW can tell you!) Some would recommended eating 1g of protein per pound of mass (if you weigh 150lb you should eat 150g of protein a day) but I personally think that is a little high if you aren’t training vigorously or professionally and you’re still looking to lose some weight or for fat loss. Now when should you eat protein and how much at a time? Ideally you want to consume protein within an hour after a workout and every 5-6 hours throughout the day. How fast you absorb protein of course depends on the type of protein you intake. Whey protein is absorbed very quickly which is why post workout shakes are so popular. You generally will absorb about 90% of all protein you intake but for muscle synthesis you want to spread it out throughout the day. So to answer your question: yes it’s good to intake a high quality steak with a large amount of protein. However you want to make sure you are still within your macro numbers for the day and maybe spread out the intake over a few hours.2

A good rule of thumb is 20-30g of protein per meal! Anymore than that is unessary for protein synthesis aka building muscle aka GAINS guys1
