Bacon consumption strongly linked to cancer

This is one additive that my body screams at me when I eat it. Nitrates makes bacon a highly 'processed' food in my book. It was not in the bacon from our own smokehouse when I was a kid. I am glad the additive Nitrates/Nitrites warnings are getting world wide attention. Thankfully it is not really a 'bacon' issue but an optional additive. Just buy nitrate free pork, etc food products.4

I had switched out to “natural” bacon without nitrates but when we went Keto discovered these had 3 to 4 g of carbs per serving. So we do the nitrate version again but very rarely hav bacon because of it. Is it possible to do nitrate and carb free? If so, my grocer doesn’t carry it.1

Everything has a risk these days. Bacon is staying on my menu.9

I opt for nitrate free bacon and sausage whenever possible, and am working towards consuming less processed meats (aka pepperoni, salami, etc) in general. I love them but I realize the nitrates are not good in excess.1

Yeah... It raises the possible risk of bowel cancer from 5% to 6%. Not great but not horrible either. I'm another bacon eater... and pepperoni sticks. Mmmmm.
Just don't switch from bacon and eggs to breakfast cereal - it's no better. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/health/cancer-risk-processed-food-sugar-cereals-sliced-bread-factors-study-a8211506.html

Canadians can get this one: https://grasslandbeef.com/sugar-free-pork-bacon-slices
Not sure if this one is US or Canada or available in both countries: applegate.com/products/applegate-naturals-no-sugar-bacon0 -
Some sugar is not a show stopped from time to time but nitrites make me feel bad aways so they are a show stopper.0

I'm not going to stop eating bacon. Though I have cut way down due to price here. I have it maybe once every 2 months. My little eating-machines eat most of it.
But the nitrates in hot dogs and similar...man I can tell a difference in my digestive system. Bleh.0 -

I'm in the USA and I've been getting my bacon from US Wellness Meats (grasslandbeef.com) for years. No carbs/no sugar/no anything bad. We love the stuff. I highly recommend them. Not giving up my bacon! US Wellness Meats is here in Missouri and they have a lot of keto friendly stuff. Their keto hamburger is delicious.2 -
Just once I'd like to see a headline that says "Sugar consumption strongly linked to cancer." Or how about "The Standard American diet strongly linked to Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes in Children, and other Chronic Diseases of the Western World." Folks, we have to eat something. Even dirty keto beats the SAD.12

Well all be damned - I'm from Missouri - and go thru Canton on a regular basis, how did I not know about this!!! LOL2 -
I buy sliced pork belly plain from the butcher and season myself. It doesn't have a smoky flavor because it's not smoked, but that's fine by me.1
