I had a few days off from work last week and I fell off with my checking in but I am back! It's been hot as balls in L.A. the last few days, hotter than normal, and it sucked the life out of me. I live in an area closer to the coast and most places around here don't have AC because truthfully it isn't necessary except for maybe two weeks out of the year. So between the heat and the hot flashes I was a hot mess! This morning though I had had enough of being a slug and got up for my workout even though I tried to talk myself into just staying in bed under the fan and I feel SO much better that I did that! Yesterday I baked Butterfinger blondies to bring for my coworker today and yes I did eat one, which makes me even more happy that I moved my butt at the gym this morning. I am also attending a lunch for a coworker who is leaving for Mexico to get married, but we all pre-ordered our lunches so thankfully there will be fewer tempations and less decision anxiety!

Garber6th, you are spot on with the decision anxiety when it comes to ordering food. I know what I should order but I find myself looking at other diners to see what looks good rather than looking to see what's healthy. I used to be great at looking at the restaurant online and writing down my order on a post-it note and telling the wait person I didn't need a menu. I have to find that girl again.

Yesterday I went to Sam's Club and stuck to my list. I walked out with paper towels and salmon. I didn't try any of the samples or pick up any snack items. Generally, when I go to Sam's I come out with something I don't need but in a moment of insanity I picked up anyway.

I had an extra bag of Butterfinger bits that I bought for baking my coworker's treats. I had a feeling if I didn't get them out of the house I would have a weak moment and rip the bag open and eat some, so to avoid temptation I brought them in to work and gave them to a coworker who likes to bake. Then I realized I have been baking a lot lately, not for myself, but I always have to sample what I make for others, so I have put a moratorium on baking until the holidays.

I’ve been MIA...You know the saying Murphy’s Law...anything that can go wrong...that’s been my my last few days but I’m keeping it together or at least I’m trying to. Tonight I’m going to a great sushi restaurant with some friends just to blow off some steam and I can’t be a bad thing right? I hope everyone has a great Tuesday and I hope to be back on track by tomorrow :)

Hi everyone. Tough week here with work coupled by a stretch of hungry hungry heffer days. I've been golden so far, even though I'm taking in more calories, at least they are protein based. So weird when I get like this.

I've been keeping on track with my walking, but not doing any PT exercises. I really need to make that a goal for tomorrow--resume my M-W-F schedule for PT stuff in addition to the walking.

Hugs to all and it really sounds like you guys are workin' it!!!! Keep going!

Today I ate 1/4 of a brownie rather than the entire brownie. That's a plus for me. I actually left the remainder in Starbucks rather than bringing it home for a leftover.

Late to the party but I am going to join....been on a weight loss yoyo for a few months now. I still need to lose at least 40lbs but happy I am even where I am, just hate the slow down. I joined a gym over a week ago and have gone every day. Still not really losing yet but super happy I am on the right path. Going every am at 530am to workout for 60 minutes. This is a massive change for me at 57 I have not done much in the exercise arena....

Awesome @DawnCumm :) You’ll soon get in a routine and maybe even enjoy it ;)

Happy hugs to everyone that is having a rough week. We can do this!

Ugh, PT exercises today! Today I'm starting! LOL. I'll get it right one day, yeah?

Gosh so happy with the scale this morning. I broke out of the 170s in 24days (normal/ave for me) and am in the 160s as of this morning. First time in about 18-19 years. Yeeehaw!!

Planning to go for a long walk at the nature preserve tonight rather than going out to eat. Then will make a beautiful halibut meal with some fish given to us by a friend. Good life.

Hope you have an awesome day. TGIthefrickF!!!!!

Went on a weekend road trip and my daughter was sick all yesterday and the day before with a stomach thing. Met a friend of almost 20 years at the diner - and proud to say I ate just scrambled eggs and 2 small pieces of homefries which is awesome. More awesome is that while I forgot to pack the food we made at home for the drive O went to the grocery store by my husband’s job and picked up a couple of healthy options. We didn’t eat junk the whole ride like in the past - we only ate the stuff I bought as meals :)

I was thinking about paying for BeachBody on Demand, has anyone here tried that? I have tried several BeachBody workouts and I really liked them but I am wondering if the subscription is worth it and how others liked it.

@garber6th my friend (not a Bariatric patient) just started BeachBody and she really likes it. I tried their shakes and didn’t love them. You may want to also try Daily Burn which I believe is similar and you get a free trial. Also Peloton just launched an app which isn’t just made for their bike. They have boot camp, yoga, running coach etc and they offer a 2 week free trial as well. Good luck!

Thank you!!! I will check out Daily Burn! I don't plan to use the BeachBody shakes, just the streaming service. From what I hear their shakes are not that great and overpriced as well.

littlegibbs, congratulations in reaching the 160's.

I took these two for a walk, and yes they are sitting on an indoor trampoline and one is wearing a backpack. He didn't wear the backpack while walking but my daughter wanted to see what he would look like heading off to school :)

Have a great day everyone. 424dqwe1mmzd.jpg

Did a Barre class on Sat.....wow can barely get up and down....super sore. Eating ok, not perfect but not horrible. Found out from my doc on Friday that I need to consume 100 protein grams per/day. I was trying for 60...and the lower protein could be contributing to my weight loss stall. So trying to get back into the swing of things with my diet since I am now exercising. : ) Will see how it goes....

Sorry to be MIA! I'm on track with eating. Scale is staying the same and fluctuating up and down. As usual. Sigh.

Work is super stressful and am trying to carve out about 30 minutes of me-time to do relaxation techniques and have quiet time--but it's challenging.

Having some wooziness/heart palpitations lately and so have to go in to see my cardiologist on Thursday. Hopefully just a mineral imbalance or something weird.

Hope you are all well! Hugs all around!!!

Really having issues staying on track for the last couple of days. Seems like I just can't get my head in the game and I'm trying to find my health passion again. Maybe it's the heat. One plus is on my daily walk I stopped eating figs from a neighbor's tree. Figs are 30 calories each, which can really add up. I also did that thing where I didn't log the figs as if that stops the calories from counting.

@littlegibbs62 hope you get back to feeling better soon and that your cardiologist appt goes well! My trainer told me stress also contributes to what we see on the scale. Stress and lack of sleep are major issues for me right now.

July is moving fast....been going to the gym but still not always eating perfectly. I think my main issue is if we have wine during dinner (which I know is a no/no). Not only do I get the empty calories from the wine but it seems to influence poor behavior. That being said, I am logging everything down and have been staying within my calorie counts. Question: do you eat your exercise calories? It just seems if I were to do that it would certainly have a negative impact.....so I have been staying with the daily allocations.

DawnCumm, during my weight loss phase I never ate my exercise calories. Now that I'm into maintenance it's hit or miss if I eat them or not. At one time I was really diligent and I would want to end my day with a surplus of calories I could consume. It made me feel good to go to bed knowing I didn't eat all the calories I was allowed.

I would like to have part of that passion back now. I'm struggling to find that person. I'm holding steady in July, but I could do a lot better.

I can so relate to this. I want to feel like I did that first year or two. I have been doing MUCH better lately, and the better I do the better I feel. It's just that when you get knocked off track for whatever reason it's can be such a struggle to get back on track again. This weekend I feel like I did really good, I had my friends over for brunch which usually ends up with some kind of dessert that I make, this time I made a really healthy high protein meal and we had fruit instead of dessert. Small victories count :)
